I have recently started on a 2nd map asides from my bball map (seems to have been put on stand-by hehe) and i've had a few ideas for the gameplay style within my new map:

Is there such a gameplay mode as "defend the flag?"

Theres one flag, located inside the red base, blue spawn in an outside area. 30second setup time gives red team a chance to setup their defences inside their base. The gates open, blu attempt to infiltrate red's base, steal their flag, and return it to their base.

Blue get one point for sucessfull capture
Red get one point for sucessfull defend (no capture after 5mins or so)

Each team will take it in turns to defend/attack

So my question is, is this possible? if so, how can i go about achieving it?

    Links to guides/tuts welcome :)

or if anyone wants to explain it to me ;) lol

    Thanks

Shouldn't be too tough. You would set up a game_round_win entity set for a red victory, just like on payload or attack/defend maps. If the timer runs out, it sends a RoundWin output to the game_round_win entity, triggering a red win. You just need to make sure you set the number of caps for blue to win the round to 1.

Wait, Don't you mean Red gets a point for defending, and Blu would get a point for capturing?

LOL - Basbeall right? I love the idea of a scout running in the field yelling I got it I got it as the ball comes in then he gets sniped and the sniper says "yep, het got it." LOL

I really like this idea, as long as you make sure your map's balanced enough to avoid 2fort-style lock-ups, it should be really fun to play. :)

Its actually a remake of a css map, not going to mention which just yet ;)

but with the conversion i'd like to try and keep the origional game-play style (cs mode)

I'll be posting a WIP on the map very soon
