Long time gamer / mapper -- made Q2 and UT maps long ago and have worked on BF1942, TFC, BF2 maps as well, and have just started working on TF2 maps recently. Also own my own server which is handy and have it set up for a 24 slot TF2 server (Opty 175, 3GB ram, Win server 2003, pair of 160GB SATA) that sits on a fiber POP, bw is excellent. 66.45.163.42 is the IP.

Have gleened a good amount of information from the forums on running the server, and getting back into mapping.

My clan (more of a community, we don't compete) is looking to do some more with custom maps, the "stock" maps have gotten boring. I remember I had hundreds of UT CTF maps back in the day. I am pretty open to doing some testing for mappers -- more later on that.

Yes, I'm older than most of you ... heh (I'm a grandpa and I game)

Tim.

Hi and welcome to TF2Maps.net somecallmeTim! :D

If you have any screen shots of your current or previous mapping endeavorers we would love to see them.

To get the best TF2Maps.net experience possible feel free to donate.

With your donation you will not only be able to remove all ads but get a larger avatar with bigger signature size allowance with images, full text search, an increased 500 PM inbox size, a nifty 'TF2Maps.net Supporter' image tag, the Ability to view other members profile and to top it all off full blog/gallery capabilities

If you need any help with a problem that you think you could fix on your own, you should read through the TF2 wiki and our own rather impressive Tutorial section.

If you need help with Entities download this. However, you need to download this so the Entities will work right. Now if you need help with things like doors download this. Lastly if you have a hate for the model browser download this.

After you are done with your project you can upload it here or you can use a very useful program that a lot of other mappers use called Dropbox.

Don't worry about making it pretty just yet. However, feel free to sign up for gameday for some good testing. Gamedays are on Fridays in the euro server and Saturday/Sunday in the U.S. server.

If you have any other questions, there is usually someone in Steam chat who can help. Welcome to the group!

Lastly don't forget!

Been lurking here for a while -- fantastic resource :)
I have my hands full with SpoCon 2009 right now, then moving -- after all that, then I should have some time to get back into mapping. Whew... no. Life does NOT slow down when you get older.

Welcome to the community Tim.

Any links of screenshot of past maps you've done?
