Anybody use fade distance on models to help increase FPS?

If so, I was wondering what the recommended settings were.

Best bet is to go to a spot where you know you can't see the model anymore, set min and max distances with the camera button.

Just a side note here, but I really hate how BF2 manages its fade distance. I like playing as a sniper in BF2 but the stupid fade distance is lower than the range of the sniper rifle and most of the maps are wide open areas... Gets frustrating at times....

    Just throwing that out there.

I thought TF2 handled its fading automatically... at least that's how it's been happening for me. Larger objects have a longer fade distance, but smaller objects like a phone or coffee pot have a shorter fade distance. I've never had to designate anything for these objects.
