I've seen it, and people have told me to use it. When I apply it, it looks kind of ugly. I'm probably doing something wrong.

Can someone please explain to me how/when I should use the Trim textures?

Don't post a three-letter description and ending the post with "/thread", please.

For, well, trims. The edges of stuff. A small brush, textured in metal and trim, makes the edge of a metal or concrete block look a lot better.

    Are you aligning it right?

    Ah, I get it now.

They looked ugly because I didn't think about rotating them... *self-stupidity facepalm*

    Anyway, thanks.

Also on a related note, you can scale a texture to fit the brush with the face edit tool. Select the face with the texture and push the button that is labeled fit.

Can I ask the name of the stair texture that creates the illusion of the step overhang?

It is actually both for the rise and the run of the stair, but for some reason valve never saw fit to use the whole thing. However, if you use the "center" alignment button on an 8 unit high step it will line up perfectly the way you want.
