So, I've read through the optimization guide at interlopers.net, and I decided to try optimizing my map. As you can see in the picture, my ground is 100% displacements:

I know that displacements don't seal the map, so I'll need something underneath like a nodraw brush. If I want the best optimization, should I put a single nodraw brush under the entire map or should I try to match the general shape of the ground with sloped brushes?

Basically? Kind of a Huge Mess

The best thing would be to fit your brushes with the shape of the ground. Leave only about 64-128 units of open space under there when possible. Also, make sure to connect the sealing brushes with and other world brushes like your buildings when possible, to help vis and rendering under there.
