Displacement...

    Sooo, im making a map that will have displacements and i have a question... what is recommended size for a displacement? and how many power must have?

    Actually i use 256x256 with power 3

    Basically cause this is ridiculous... (see the image)

    A standard size that I use for displacements when creating terrain for large areas is 384*384 with a power of 2.

    I use power 3 also TMB. But I think your issue is because your area is so large- I don't think there is a way around dividing them into smaller parts if you plan on covering such a large area.

    Just subdivide it, then sew the pieces together.

    Edit: I don't mean use the subdivision tool, just bad wording.

    90% of the time you'll want to use power 2 displacements. If that seems too small, it's more than likely because the brush in question is too big, so just cut it up.
