I just have to say that I'm quite disappointed with the attitudes coming from custom mappers here toward custom mods. This whole issue with Valve breaking a number of custom mods has really brought to light the division between two custom groups within our community.

You don't like players running around with hats they didn't randomly see drop for them... I get it. You don't care for servers where they force players to wear a specific hat... I get it. Those are totally valid personal opinions.

What I find hypocritical is when I see a custom mapper claim "Pure vanilla all the way", yet want players to play their custom map. Out of all the forums on community sites regarding the current petition, it's sad to see that TF2Maps.net (a respectable community) had to close their short-lived thread.

Valve literally killed a number of gameplay modes (yes... more than just had mods) and discouraged many custom mod developers... current and future. Had Valve killed a vital entity used in a number of popular custom maps, I'm sure the custom mod community would have backed you up on a petition.

What happened to custom mod developers affects the entire community, including this custom mapping one.

Why must you be so narrow minded? Valve's update didn't just break custom hats... I don't know why people are so focused on ONLY that aspect? There wouldn't be a big problem if they just blocked players from wearing hats they don't have, which would have been easy to do a backpack check.

The problem is that they did a very global and general visual block of ALL custom entities attached to players from a server-side mod.

Dude, this has been discussed in the other thread. If you wish to continue the discussion with certain individuals add them on steam, or do it through private channels. By posting, all you're doing is bringing this back up, and as you said. It's peoples' opinions, and peoples' opinions generally differ. So by posting this all you're doing is bringing all this crap back to the surface. Dude, don't try and move the communities further apart than they already are.

Seeing as I couldn't (for some reason), edit my previous post:

Not many people here actually play these mods, and have little care in the world for their fate, they spend far too much time mapping and play testing. It's just not our concern, and I fail to understand why it should be.
