Decompiling texture glitch

    Woah dude. I didn't mean to cause any harm. I'm just making a trade map myself and I'm looking through a couple of maps to see how the creators did some things - for example through looking at these maps I discovered the 'player clip' brush. It's not like I'm going to steal anything.

    The original post didn't say anything about 'decompiling being forbidden' and I'm pretty sure if you don't want people decompiling it you can do something to stop decompiling working. I don't want to start a war or anything, I just like your map and was interested in how you managed to create some aspects of it :)

    I'm ok if you are just looking some inspiration and other stuff.


    Anyways, you need the pakrat to get the custom textures from the map file.

    You should never assume that someone will be okay with you decompiling their map, nor should they have to take preventative measures to stop people like you. Have a little respect and ask for permission first, it won't hurt anyone.

    If you need references for basic map building, you can use these decompiled Valve maps which exist for that purpose.

    Generally if you ask nicely people don't mind providing .vmfs as learning experiences. Just need to be polite.
