    CTF Camping Trip [RC]

Had I more time, this map would have been finished about one year prior to now, probably. In any case, welcome to Camping Trip, a Capture the Flag map that is designed for fast-paced team-cohesive combat. Two cabins are placed across a river from each other, each looking in opposite directions (meaning that this map has mirror symmetry). Each cabin is well accommodated with warm dining room and large basement for all your low-poly bioengineering needs.

But as with all camping trips, the weather became terrible. As combat frenzied as the middle area may get, people generally don't like to stick out there for long as it is pouring down rain. Visibility is fair, however, as HDR helps you adjust to the constant level of light quite tactfully.

For more information on the map's background, see the FPSBanana page.

Feedback is appreciated, particularly gameplay feedback as I can work this into future maps I create. However, unless asked to personally, I feel no desire to make a newer, "_final" version of this map. After all, I have another map on the stove, and it's going to get burnt if I don't get stirring already.

A bit under-detailed, but it looks nice enough

I'm inclined to agree. Some aspects just seem a little too... sharp. For example, The drain cover could do with twice as many sides to look smoooother (and maybe even make it a model rather than use brushwork) and a lot of the rooves look way too thick. One last thing I spot in those screen shots is the pair of conduits in the middle. It looks unnatural to have them connected to each other. I haven't played it so cannot comment on gameplay.

you got some very nice attempts of design in your map, but if i was you, i would recall it to a rc_version and still work on it, unless you dont watn to work on it any further.

but i also agree with the previous posts. a bit under detailed at some places.

what i like: the hall way on screen with the long stair way. lokks very good tbh

what i don not like: the middle area: the concrete has go too few faces... if i was you, i'd cover the edges with displacements. the vents on your first screen do not look very god.. i think its the textures. you should try to add some kind of frame between the separate parts ot the vent and apply another texture to it. so you dont have to worry about the alignment and you can make the textures lokk better.

just my thoughts. hope the comment was helpful, if not, ill try to mae it helpful :)

    cheers,
    archy

This isn't much of a release site as it is a feedback site.

If you are looking for mappers and players who care about detail and layout and want to help improve your map you've found the place, however if you are only looking to release a map here it's a waste of time.

An excellent point. I actually had a thread for back when this was a beta, but I forgot how easy it was to change the download link and screenshots section. Truthfully, I was in need of a kick in the pants for feeling so spiteful towards my own map.

If I could change this thread's title, I would, but the real question is this: is the layout worth taking this map, polishing it up in the manner previous posters have generously pointed out, and then calling it a day?
