CP Crater

    This is an update to a map I started for the last 72 hour contest. It really wasn't that good back then (it might still not be that good now) but I felt the premise was worth putting more effort into it and seeing if I can make it a fun map.

    The basic goal is to make a small, fast 5CP map that "feels" like a koth map in the way there is nonstop fighting. I also wanted to avoid putting in forward spawns and keep the run distances short.

    This means the distance between control points is significantly shorter than most 5CP maps. The b4 release has expanded things quite a bit over the 72 hour version but it's still pretty small. As a team captures points, new routes open up to try and keep the action going.

    Just because the map is textured don't assume it's nearing completion, a lot of the detailing is still really rough and I'm constantly tinkering with it. There's no displacements for example.. I don't want to mess with them until I get the geometry settled. So try not to pay too much attention to the detailing for now, I mean comment if you want but the play is mostly what I'm focused on at the moment.

    For the curious, I made a short video with a flythrough of cp_xzzy_72_a3 and cp_crater_b4 which shows off how much it's changed, and how much it hasn't.

    Putting this up for download because the map needs some real playtesting, hopefully will get it in a gameday soon.
