    i took a break from my bunker map and started with the Basic tutorials. this is the map i constructed its a cp map with a neutral cp in the middle. the layout is identical for both Red/Blue so no disadvantage from the map, its just up to player skill :rolleyes:. i posted it here coz i feel like its done but might need more work or tweaks. here is a bunch of screenes and a link to a ingame run around of the map.

    One major criticism: Way too dark. Dark maps just don't work for TF2, It strips the player of the ability to differentiate between the classes, and more importantly, between the teams. If the players cant tell which teammate is a pyro or a soldier for them to heal or what team that shape in front of them is they get frustrated very quickly.

    Looks very solid, seems to be enjoyable for such a basic map.

    Yeah, work on the lighting. In addition to the darkness, colored lights are generally bad to have too. They make it hard to see the difference between team colors. I understand that they are there to make it easy to understand which part of the map you're in, but instead you can use textures (warm/cold colors, wood/concrete...), overlays, signs and props (with different skins, maybe) to tell players where they are.

    It also seems like your doors open upon being touched... In the func_door's "flags" in its properties, you have to uncheck "Touch Opens".

    EDIT: And by the way, why is your spawn room labeled with "Hazard area"? Overlays are nice, but they should fit in.

    thanks for the verry good criticism, im gonna make some minor changes with the map(its gonna get brighter,thats a prommiss:=). btw i was thinking... this custom map has some textures that need to be downloaded. is the "outside_player" so to say... gonna get the same textures ? or do i like need to fix that somehow... ?



    (edit: just made the map brighter, and replaced the colored lights with normal white glow, in addition i changed the texture on the wall to Red/blue for a sense of direction, i must say it turned out for the better)

    You should get pakrat and pak in the custom textures before you release the map to a server, otherwise theyll just see purple checkers.

    Finnaly got my rounds to work. :thumbup:
    And the map is done. il upload it in the near future.
    just need to use the packrat correctly

    Still looking nice and clean. It's great that you fixed the lighting, but the terrible colored lighting is still there. Nobody really likes colored lights at all.
