Since the March 5th update there has been alot of mix up with Courch+jump and Jump+crouch. It may not seem as a big deal but it is.

The Crouch+Jump exploit was a exploit almost a year back where you litter crouched and then with the right timing jumped. This would make you non collisionable with map brushes, this means you where able to put Teleports and advance to get to highly exploitable spots. For example skywalking on Dustbowl.

Here is a video of the ol' days

As you can see, this exploit got very well know after a while. Each server I joined, there was atleast 1 player that did something like this, went under the map, trapped players, skywalking ect.

Jump+Crouching is when you jump and then crouch to get to higher spots. For example getting ontop of your sentries. This is not a exploit since valve really never fixed it. It has pleased players since Half-Life 2 and noone really mind it. But now, Valve has removed this, for unknown reasons and now everyone is hating them.

So please keep this in mind. There is major difference between these two. And most already have them mixed up, correct them if you wish.;)

Oh, I never thought there was a difference. I thought the guys who did the glitches just jumped around randomly, I never imagined they were doing any particular tricks.

It's good that they fixed that, I guess, but they should have found a better solution. I guess as long as they're going to do something about the good old crouch jump (by which I mean crouching in the air) like said here, I will be happy.

    jump+crouch?

I think a hitbox brush problem when you crouch jump is still crouch jumping. AFAIK, you have to crouch before you jump to gain any height...not after you jump. Unless I'm wrong, calling it jump+crouch will just be confusing. A hit box problem with crouch+jump is still crouch+jump..

You have to crouch after you jump. In TF2 it is impossible to jump while crouched. In GoldSrc (I don't remember about regular HL2), jumping while crouched resulted in less height than normal jumping along.

Weird, I thought you hit jump as you let go of crouch, as bending your knees as you before you jump IRL gives you a better jump.

Wasn't it fixed? All official maps has Clip texture under displacements so you can't fall down

To do the CROUCH+JUMP exploit, you would crouch and then really fast release and press jump. This would screw up the hitboxes making you able to get outside the map. A real exploit.

The JUMP+CROUCH is when you jump and then crouch to get higher then normal jumping. Not a real exploit. Bad names for the totally different things, yes but not much you can do about it.

They are named after how you do it.
