    I don't have too much too say, I just started the map the other day, I'm doing all the modeling stuff atm, I want to concentrate on details and when I end all them I can make all the rush map work, don't expect great brushwork on these pics.

    cp_pirate_island reborn from ashes. Again, I'm trying to make large areas where you interact with the enviroment, vegetation would be the way you cover, rocks and stuff sentry spots, dense vegetation or tree tops would be sniper spots, etc etc. I want this map to be a natural paradise but you will find some buildings too.

    It's on a very early test phase, it's not even alpha, it's just 2 days work and I wanted to show it here. Tell me what do you think.

    The trees are a tad too realistic, I dunno... perhaps make the leaves bigger and make the textures less noisy.

    Crysis trees?
    Can you send over the models? Me and a mate are working on trees ourselves but we need a good example.

    The trees are selfmade, I've just taken the textures from Crysis and I modified them a little bit, oh and made the bumpmaps too. But all the modeling work is mine.

    I'll send you the .mdl files, but please don't use them on a map until I finish the map. A great tip for making the leaves: don't make flat meshes, make meshes with lots of polygons, because Source engine "vertexlit" them so if you have just a flat mesh it will light or shadow the whole leaf.

    PS. models are unfinished, they don't have collision model and lod models. And I'm going to change the trunk texture.


    I would do it if it wasn't that difficult :(

    I won't use your trees ofcourse! I just need good reference and I couldn't extract trees from crysis to take a look >:C
    If you modeled them yourself good job I'd say. But for TF2 its way off.

    It's more like a natural island than pirate story, but it will have pirate references like treasures, skeletons etc etc. I still don't have a global idea of the map, I'm just testing things

    Our idea was an A/D map going in and a PL map coming out (go in to steal the ninja's gold, basically). I know the contest is only one stage, but maybe you can modify it to fit your needs. :)

    Have at it. Whatever you want to take from it, feel free. If anyone does a grassy courtyard, we were going to do cherry blossoms and use the ash effect to make it look like the flowers were falling down. Interesting effect that worked pretty well in a test. :)

    Lol I just saif it will have pirate references, but it won't be all around pirates, I want it more like a jungle, with forest ambient sounds, etc

    You could pull something like convoy where a pirate theme is played for the first ten seconds or so.
