    KOTH CLUSTERSPACE

    Ok, so this is my first map. I've yet to even re-download Hammer, so this is in VERY basic stages.

    CONCEPT

    An Abstract KOTH Map composed of floating cubes and cuboids. Both spawn points are equal, but the area in the middle is a jumble of these boxes.

    The sniper Deck is half way down the structures, but out at the side.

    The spawn points are at the very top of the structure, but are covered by a wall to stop spawn killing. The teams fall down on to their first block and then come in to contact.

    The control point is at the very base of the structure, however, there are no medkits, only ammo dispensers, requiring the team to either sticky/rocket/double jump to get to a medkit or use medics and Engineers to ensure survival.

    Cool Idea but no idea if it should work, and the mirror edge stuff looks like a damn surfmap.

    If nothing else, this has reminded me of how awesome mirrors edge is
    *goes to replay*

    srysly though, sounds cool if u pull it off, do you think having a couple buildings in there would work? Just cos they would look out of place, seeing as this is quite an
    abstract environment anyway

    Isn't airblast going to dominate, though?

    Airblast, along with anything with pushback including rockets, stickies, FaN, and even some melee moves.

    Looks like it could get ultra frustrating. :p

    the first sentry will often decide who wins
    even lvl 1 has a decent pushback and will hold off any attacker

    This map, in my mind anyway, is not designed to be an everyone be the same class map. You HAVE to have atleast one Medic, Spy, Sniper and Engineer or you will lose very quickly. Spies to take out the sentries, Medics to supply the health and Engineers the ammunition, Sniper to eliminate threats such as the Sentries, Demomen and Scouts. Teamwork is needed or you're dead.

    Besides, this is my first map just getting used to hammer controls etc. I'll make more... real maps later.

    just make sure there are alternate routes for spies battlements and stuff.
    pyro might even out btw because its quiet open

    I think that with the release of the UT3 Editor for free, you would enjoy making maps for Mirror's Edge itself. Custom maps aren't supported by DICE, so a certain amount of trickery is involved, but feel free to pm me if you want any help.

    So you dont have any chance of getting up the the health/spawn from the point if youre not a soldier/demo? This is really bad, you should place some stairs.

    Also, i think this would fit into some custom outer space skybox, like in quake.

    For the gameplay: this may be too sniper friendly or at least not fair for all classes, but this would sure fit into a non-classbased game, like quake or ut, just if you want to make a map for them :)

    On a technical note this could end in optimization suicide. I think this map could work great in another game like halo or something with minimal knockback, and relative player flexability, but not in a class-based game like tf2.

    I intend this not to be a serious pro map, just for me to get a taster of mapping in TF2. I'll go on to more serious ones if this goes well, if not then I know I'm not the mapping kind.

    For your viewing pleasure, VERY early WIP screens only showing an early red spawn and a small bit of the main playing field. The skybox is not the final one, and the floor is too high up to make people die on contact from falling.

    This is probably the first and only time I will recommend a big skybox cube around your/any map.

    And for what it's worth: Have you thought anything about playablity for non scouts?
    The abstract world works in mirrors edge because Faith can run, jump and in general is a lot more agile than all TF2 characters!

    I can't imagine playing anything but demoman on this, jumping to the highest point and then airstriking everything below.

    trigger_hurt would be useful for you there. Set the damage to something with lots of 9's so it can kill Ubers and Dead Ringer Spies.

    Oh wait now I don't like the parts that are done.

    EDIT:

    Needs something to make it better, like lighting or design

    I have, the steps leading up to that big slop are a little bit too high for other Classes, so I'll make a smaller slop instead of a big step.

    I've only just started this less than 12 hours ago, I'm making the main structures, then lighting.

    1) Whats up with those health packs?
    2) The floating platforms look HUGE. I think you should shrink them
    3) This could be a scoot map
