For those of you in America, here's the first half on YouTube
    http://www.gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=98781

For those in the UK, here's the high-quality BBC iPlayer version
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00n1j8q/Charlie_Brookers_Gameswipe

It's one of the best shows on TV I've seen in a long time, whilst in some places it can be a little annoying, explaining about things you already know, some things are particularly amusing, in particular the absolute best review ever of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, and the amusing quip about Yoko Ono at the end.

It really is laugh out loud funny in places, although the bit with the 2 scottish people is a bit tedious. Dara Ó Briain explaining his Gears of War experience is entertaining also (although you have to wonder - is he really that bad?)

    Have fun!

YESSSS, watched the last parts of it on BBC4, then watched it on BBC iPlayer, than watched it again in a stream so I could discuss it.

It was excellent. I expected nothing less from him. Favourite moment had to be the made-up game were you push Myleene Klass into a canal. :D

I think the only reason he went through all the genres was because he wanted to appeal to a wider audience aka people who don't know much about games. A problem with a lot of the old crappy games shows is that they tried to be "with it" and thus fell flat on their face by alienating people who haven't a clue as well as their intended target audience.

Anyway, I really hope it gets commissioned for a full series. Finally, a show about games which is terribad. :D

Nice watch. In the midst of the retarded events when games meet other mainstream media, it's good to have someone clear it up and mock those idiots who pull their claims out of their ignorant, uninformed asses.

EDIT: That said, the non-Charlie parts were sort of lame, so I skipped most of them.

For charlie brooker that was an amazingly tasteful program. Don't like him much and I doubt there are many people who'd watch that who wouldnt be at least "open minded" towards games, so I'm not really sure who the target audience was....

Considering that is the general audience who watch BBC4... I'd say it was on the right channel.

Why would someone who doesn't give a shit about games be interested in a programme about games?

That said, it was an amusing watch.

edit: both your links are the same..

Just thought i'd bump this. I just introduced a mate to this episode of gameswipe and realised that part 5 was censored from the American public. I watched this on BBC i>player when it was published, and noticed this, this isn't the only shareware version of it (youtube), other international public releases also miss part 5 of this program. But this is no longer available on i>player.

I found this interesting as it contains the most liberal discussions on videogame culture, despite the fact that it discusses titles such as Condemned 2 and GTA4 elsewhere within this program, and was still open to the American public. I'm actually offended that this was deemed inappropriate for the U.S. audience, and thus subsequently censored.
