Cevo BANS the sandman

    Well, like most people predicted, the sandman is OP and has been banned from cevo, so looks like the pros won't be using the sandman.

    Golly, the pros aren't good enough to counter a baseball.

    They truly are the best at something, but it isn't TF2.

    Feh. How about we say that if you don't allow a weapon that Valve included in their game... that *you're* breaking the game.

    I don't use the Scout hardly at all, and when I'm up against one, they go down like a feather in most cases. I think The Sandman evens the score and makes the opponent more approachable. Fucktards need to start practicing on counters when a new dynamic has been added to the game instead of whining and disallowing items because they're getting owned like little bitches.

    I just don't get it. It's the main reason I've always had a distaste for leagues. They take a perfectly fun game, and turn it into the elitist circle jerk that is CounterStrike (the single most overrated team-based FPS game in the universe... after Halo.)

    All they really need to do is allow any melee to counter by swatting the ball away if timed correctly.

    Done.

    It's fine for the most part, but it really shouldn't have an effect on ubers.

    Really, you guys think that scout go down like feathers, and that the sandman is balanced?

    • The Scout is the fastest class out there (133% base speed vs. 107% for 2nd fastest, Medic)
    • The Scout has the smallest hitbox profile which requires more precise shots
    • The Scout DOES NOT have the least health, he is tied with the Spy, Sniper and Engineer
    • The Scout gets a 2x capture rate.
    • The Scout gets extra agility with his double jump.
    • The Scout has a primary weapon that can decimate at close ranges in record time.
    • The Scout has a secondary weapon that (especially with freely available scripts) can fire like an SMG at medium range.
    • The Scout has the fastest melee (and even though it does less, its rate of fire is enough to equate roughly 2 swings per other class 1, making damage on the same scale)
    • With his ForceGun unlock, the Scout has a quicker 2-shot killing weapon that also disorientates the enemy by sending them flying through the air.
    • With his Bonk! unlock, the Scout has a readily-available mini-Uber that makes him impervious to damage, able to bypass the one class ability (Sentries) that were supposed to keep Scouts in line, and the con of this item (slow speed) doesn't prevent him from pulling out a weapon and defending himself til it wears off.
    • With his Sandman unlock, the Scout now has long range offensive ability and can even nullify "Invulnerability" Ubers, removing control from the enemy for a short duration, and making classes like the Heavy (and others) near completely defenseless against their agility, quick strike/stun, attack sequence.

    Mechanics that completely remove player control (such as stuns) have no place in skill vs skill games, period. I can completely understand why a "pro" group would remove such an ability from their matches.

    And since when did FPS's have a stun ability? If I want to get stuned with a 1-hit cheap shot, I'll go play WoW.

    the wrong thing is skill is not counted when stunning someone. They should remove it or change it to:

    -When you kill someone, you have 10 seconds to stunt someone with your sandman.

    Then it will be ok. Also stunning ubers is the most stupid thing ever.

    My opinion is that its an insta-death to me every time I get hit with it. The core mechanics of tf2 are not designed to keep you alive if your standing in the middle of the battle field and can't do anything, you'll simply get killed every time :| It makes scouts go hit and run, and let the rest of the team take you out while they continue the stun spree.

    you know...I haven't exactly seen the sandman have such a huge impact on gameplay
    ive got about 20 hours of gameplay since the update and ive been stunned 4 times total...1 of those times i got killed, and another one ruined a uber
    in that same time frame ive been hit by at least 30 crit rockets, all of them killed me and 5 of them ruined crit ubers, so...i don't know, there are other things i hate far more then the sandman

    They fixed the crit issue with the no-crit server option long ago.

    Scouts are more annoying, but hardly op. Having the ability to hit the ball w/ your melee weapon would be a welcome change though. Am I the only person who thinks that Demos remain ungodly overpowered?

    When you start playing with scouts that can aim, they are amazingly OP.
