Are they part of the same entity? Use the "Solids" option under "Select" to select individual brushes without selecting all brushes in an entity.

Enable :ig: ("ignore groups") to select single objects of a entity or group. Mind that you can't create or edit brush entities while this is enabled.

Since func_detail isn't a real entity, just a designation of what brushes are or aren't visibility blockers, the grouping is lost during the compile process. So decompilers have to guess which detail brushes to lump together based on which ones are touching. It's better than it used to be, where they didn't even do that and just made them all separate.
