I am tired of seeing huge images like this between posts.
It's doing absolutely nothing except taking up space and bandwidth.

I have no problem with image signatures, but i do agree that when they are too high that its a bad thing. But this is not only down to just an image aswel. With plain text people are also able to exceed a certain height. A lone 80px high image or a 50px high image with 3 lines of text still matters as in this example the 3 lines take over 30 pixels.

The only decent html counter i can think of is to put all signatures inside a <div> and then simply set overflow-y:hidden in the css

Mods could enforce it on a case-by-case basis, asking offending users to slim them down.

Honestly, I think the height limit on signatures as they stand are perfectly fine.

(I'm sorry, I had to do this.)

There's a difference between height limits on signatures, and just really noisey, loud, in-your-face signatures.

    I've poked staff to discuss.

EDIT: @Jethro ... mind un-doing that? As that really is annoying, you didn't need to show it.

I don't think we need a signature size limit

I don't think it's necessary to code in a signature limit; rather we should point it out to users when their signatures are too big.

I think we need a size limit because "big dicks must be sucked" is getting a little overpowered there which is really a problem.

Yet another instance where I have to make a post to say "I disagree" because we don't have a disagree option.

@Fr0Z3nR @Geit @Crash and co can we just have a disagree option please. If it gets abused or you feel like people aren't explaining their views you can take it away. It's just frustrating having 6 "yes" and no "no" options.

You're not getting a disagree button, end of discussion.

Then why not take the opportunity to explain why you disagree?

I'm kind of in the same boat with YM but on different case. If someone posts wrong instructions, you could mark the post as disagree and post under the correct solution, or if someone has already done so, you could agree on that and disagree on the wrong one. Sometimes disagree button would be usefull but using such should be discouraged unless really needed because this isn't reddit with downvotes, and never should be. It wouldn't have to be "disagree" but something similiar, more friendlier perhaps.

    As discussed earlier here: http://tf2maps.net/threads/new-post-stamp-feature-thank-like-agree-etc.26257/page-2#post-349199
Thats why there should be no disagree button.

Talk about the signature issue instead and type in why you disagree on a statement. That way someone can actualy improve at knowing on why its a bad idea. Rather than clicking disagree and never give him that information.

That's the whole point of not having a disagree button.
"I disagree" isn't a good way to provide discussion or criticism on a topic.
Having a button that does that for you isn't helping any more.

Let's not derail this thread with an argument about something unrelated.

There is nothing to explain. We don't go around demanding people explain why they have opinions. Why doesn't Seba have to justify his opinion when I have to justify disagreeing with it?

Not having a disagree button also stifles all the situations where the explanation is so short you'd basically be making a 1 line post. I'm fine making shorter posts but I bet a lot of users don't want to make super short posts for a single sentence explaining why they disagree. So we're getting bias in the opinions shown.

Furthermore, as ICS says, there have been several instances where people have posted flat out incorrect information. A disagree option can visibly tag a post as containing problematic material which would (hopefully) get readers to continue scrolling past the first answer to see the correct info posted later. There are definitely cases where someone searches something, finds an answer that's wrong, and misses the correct answer that's further down the thread.

@worMatty Point's been made to the staff cave, thread has already outlived its purpose.

What Seba said in chat: "when you click Disagree a "create a reply" window pops up" - can it be made to work like this then + also mark the post disagree or misinformative? Disagree might be too harsh word, perhaps if there is wrong information, it could be marked misinformative instead? That would not be so negative.

YM said, there has been wrong info posted around and sometimes the information is only corrected few posts down. Someone who is looking for information will try the first solution available and if there is no one else instantly replying with correct info, it's kind of pointless guidance.

But if there's only him and me seeing it usefull, i guess it's not that usefull feature to have after all.
