can i spawn a named entity without having a template in the map beforehand

    Why don't you just create the entity, and the point_template? The entity will not show up until it is spawned.

    EDIT: Alternatively, have the intel entity off-map somewhere, and teleport it in using a point_teleport.

    cuz if its present on the map from the beginning, payload collision breaks

    simple
    take a pl map
    add intel
    stand in front of the cart as it pushes you down a slope
    dont get pushed into the ground

    I just tried it, curious. I think this would be something to email valve about and see if they can fix it because it is definitely what I would consider broken behavior. The train watcher is what "upgrades" collision calculation on the train in question. Normal trains get you stuck in TF2 because TF2 has bad physics. The flag being added causing that to stop working and revert to normal means there is something conflicting.

    it broke around mvm or sometime later, used to work fine

    im considering shooting an email but ill bother with that only once i get to working on that map

    which isnt anytime soon
