I'm new to hammer about a month and I'm having a hard time to blend some textures. I'm trying to do is to blend a dirt path on a grassy texture. I looked around for some tutorials but very few and not helping me. Can anyone explain me how can I do it? Thanks.

You want to make sure you're using a texture with 'blend' in its name, on a displacement. Then, go to the texture application tool (6th from the top on the left column), and go to the 'displacement' tab. There, you can select your displacement, and use the Paint Alpha button to paint alpha onto the texture. Try holding both left- and right-click if it doesn't seem to be making a difference, and you can also make use of the Invert Alpha button to swap around the two textures you're blending between.

If you're struggling to find the right texture, searching 'blendgroundtograss' in the material browser should give you exactly what you need.
