    Hey guys, I've started work on the next version of billiards! You can find the final version of billiards 1 here: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/69631

    I was really excited about releasing the final version, but there was still much I had wanted to improve.

    Among the top of my list was doing something about those balls! They were very polygonal and didn't look very real. I wanted models, and my friend Fishy helped out by creating a set. I also started work on revamping ALL of the visuals including a new custom light fixture and new styling on the table itself. As you can see in the following screenshots, I'm going for a more contemporary look. Imagine a sheek sunroom overlooking an ocean:

    I know the skybox is completely bare and doesn't quite make sense, but I'm working off a plan, so it should look good!

    This must be a fun map to work on! Clear set of goals and objects, implicit layout, and one iteration under your belt makes for a very 'comfortable' mindset with which to work.

    Or maybe I'm thinking about the sunny beach environment...

    Regardless, it's looking slick!

    Alright, well I finally got the physics of the models to match that of the original func_physbox balls. I'll be able to compile a playable pre-beta version pretty soon!

    Ok, I'm getting closer to a public Alpha release! Turns out the physics weren't EXACTLY like I wanted them. I just couldn't get them perfect. My workaround was parenting the model billiard balls to the original func_physbox billiard balls which were textured nodraw. The models are then set to non-solid so that the player is actually shooting the original balls, but sees the new models. It's quite seamless and nobody would actually realize that they aren't technically shooting the models.

    I've played the first billards, great level when someone calls melee only :)

    Can't wait to see this one in action:thumbup:
