Some things I've noticed while playing Arena maps is that, once one team appears to have a advantage, some of the other players on the losing team just go and hide, let the other team cap the CP, and just hope they don't find them in the post-round killing spree.

This sucks. It really does. So I got wondering, what if, not only you were locked out of your spawnroom, but the only way to win was your team killing the entire other team?

Good idea to get scardey-cats into the fray, or just a lame hide-and-go-seek fest?

I think the entire idea of the capture point was to make it so the rounds wouldn't be drawn out by some random who doesn't want to die.

If the only way to win was to kill all the other team, that same random would still hide and extend the time of the round, doing little but frustrating the other players on the server.

It would be worse without the CP. People can hide, engi's can turtle, etc.

Yeah I think the CP adds a good TF2 feel to the deathmatch-likeness of Arenas. The point is to keep things moving, given you must win 5 in a row with most maps, and the CP encourages that.

I agree, I've seen alot of occassions where the underdog wins with kills or a cap.

Taking the cap away just encourages hiding. At least the cap gives an incentive.
Chicken players will be chicken no matter what.

Locking the spawn room would only do 2 things.
1-trap any afk ers. So they couldn't be killed, thus the round wouldn't end (without a cap)
2-only lock down one very small area on most maps. Since the spawn has no health or ammo locking it wouldn't serve any purpose.

There is one map I got to play a few rounds on. The map wasn't all the great imo but the concept was very good.
An alarm sounds maybe 60 sec into the round. At that time you have about 10 seconds to get into the blast shelter. The doors close and anyone outside gets killed with a nuclear blast. So you actually have teams fighting to get the point right off the bat.
I'd like to see more maps like that.
