Appropriate skybox brush sizes [SOLVED]

I read somewhere that having large brushes can cause problems. I feel like I'm unnecessarily dividing my brushes (esp skybox brushes) into smaller pieces. How big is too big? For example, most of my skybox brushes are no larger than [lengthxwidth] 1616x1616. Could I make these bigger?

I've had no problems with skybox brushes being tens of thousands of units in dimensions - they aren't lightmapped so it's not an issue like normal brushes
