    cp_aida - A basic attack defend capture point map. My very first one!

    CP_AIDA
    CP_AIDA is my very first single stage three point control point map that I felt confident enough to release while it is in development. It loosely follows the general S or curved shape layout, but due to my lack of great design it's more of a straight line then a curve, however it is still fun!

    Slums fill the first area, surrounding an out of place, modern building controlled by red. In this building a plethora of secrets is held, dug into a deep cavern in which no one will enter. No one would suspect that red has these secrets, after all they are surrounded by slums populated by thousands.

    Aida has three main areas, each with their own control point. The first point is located outdoors, in a large and open space, with the point elevated high off the ground. The second point is in the modern slum-surrounded building, near the giant entrance into the cave. Through the multiple entrances into the cave, you are led into a small series of buildings, of which become open again into a large cavernous area. Near the back is the capture point, with some spots being inspired by cp_gorge.

    Planned Improvements
    - Lighting needs to be fixed;
    - Some layouts need to be adjusted, some sight-lines are massive;
    - Pretty flat;
    - General aesthetics;
    - Sewing between terrains;
    -
    Aesthetics out of play area;
    - Add some obstructions to the first area

    - Sewing the displacements together to make the transitions smoother.

    Extra Information
    Using Bots
    A navigation mesh (has the same name as the map file but ends in “.nav”) should of come with the map but incase it hasn’t you can generate one using the steps below:

    For Singleplayer
    - Go into the options menu;
    - Go into the general tab;
    - Press the "Advanced" button on the bottom of the menu;
    - Press the checkbox next to "Enable Developer Console";
    - Close the options menu by pressing 'X' on the top right;
    - Going into the console by pressing grave (`);
    - Typing "sv_cheats 1" and press enter on your keyboard;
    - Typing "nav_generate" and press enter on your keyboard;
    - Wait until it has finished, it will reload the level when it is finished.

    Dedicated Servers

    This requires that you have access to the console through some method (Either directly or through RCON).

    - Make sure you are currently on this map;
    - Type "nav_generate" into your console and press Enter;
    - Wait until it has finished, it will reload the level when it is finished.

    Loading the map

    To open cp_aida you must follow the following steps, which may change depending on your situation.
    All the tutorials marked with a "*" mean that you should follow these steps before hand (This is so you can open the console):
    - Go into the options menu;
    - Go into the general tab;
    - Press the "Advanced" button on the bottom of the menu;
    - Press the checkbox next to "Enable Developer Console";
    - Close the options menu by pressing 'X' on the top right;
    - Going into the console by pressing grave (`);

    Singleplayer or LAN Games*

    This method requires you have your console open.
    - Open your console;
    - Input “map cp_aida_<VERSION>” into the console, replacing the “VERSION” with the current map version as seen near the title. Do not include the “<>” symbols;
    - Press enter and wait for the map to load.

    Please note, people may be able to join you if you are in the same Local Area Network (LAN) but you may have troubles using tunnels (like Hamachi) to play with each other. In my personal experience it’s easier to just install the dedicated server instead.

    Dedicated Servers - Change Level

    This requires that you have access to the console through some method (Either directly or through RCON).

    - Input “changelevel cp_aida_<VERSION>” into the console, replacing the “VERSION” with the current map version as seen near the title. Do not include the “<>” symbols.
    -Activate the command by using your desired method, usually by pressing “Send” or by pressing the Enter key.

    Dedicated Servers - Mapcycle

    If you would like to add this map to your server’s map cycle, there a few simple steps you must follow.

    - Go into the server’s Team Fortress 2 folder;
    - Go into the “tf” folder;
    - Go into the “cfg” folder;
    - Either create a new (or edit) text file called mapcycle.txt;**
    - Add “cp_aida_<VERSION>” after all the other names, replacing the “VERSION” with the current map version as seen near the title. Do not include the “<>” symbols.
    - Save and restart your server.

    **If the “mapcycle.txt” file does not exist it is reccommended that you copy the “mapcycle-default.txt” file and paste it in the same folder the default was found in. Rename it to “mapcycle.txt” and continue from there.

    Installing the map

    How to install cp_aida onto your Team Fortress 2 game.

    Installing Manually

    Use this method if you wish to download directly from TF2Maps. Please note that this method will not automatically update your map.

    This method also works for dedicated server, just find the server’s Team Fortress 2 installation (usually the root of the hard drive the server was installed in).

    - Open Steam and press “Library”;
    - Find “Team Fortress 2” on the list on the left;
    - Right click and press the “Properties” at the bottom of the list;
    - Press the “Local Files” button at the top of the menu that appeared;
    - Press the “Browse Local Files” button near the centre of the menu;
    - Go into the “tf” folder;
    - Go into the “maps” folder;
    - Cut your downloaded compressed file here;
    - Extract your compressed file making sure that the .bsp and .nav flies are in the maps folder, not in their own;*
    - Delete the compressed file if it still exists and remove any extra folders that may have been created;
    - Close everything and your done!

    *If there is no .nav file, and if you would like to use bots, refer to the “Using Bots” section above to enable the use of bots.

    Special Mentions
    Thanks to these very special people who helped to play test the map and provide feedback on their layout and providing support when needed:

    The lighting is terrible, I know. I am currently revamping it so yay!
    As such, try not to post things about the lighting, I am aware of all of the issues with it :3

    Thanks

    Thanks for the playtest everyone!
    Some of the issues, like the sight lines, I was aware of. But I didn't know entirely how to fix them without changing the whole map. This map has really just been a great learning experience for me, I have learnt things I should be doing, things I should not, things that I should avoid etc.

    Thanks again to everyone who playtested this map, I won't really be updating it anymore as, in my opinion, is way to broke. I might remake it one day though.

    Thanks,
