Im not sure who would have a bigger advantage: demos or snipers.
This is like a picture perfect replica of The Lost Coast. Still, would be nice to get something a little more scenic.
would that many displacements turn a falcon northwest pc into butter?

not if it was butter...
having bazillions of displacements wont put huge strain on a pc, just the mapper. Displacements are very easy for the engine to render. so from that point of view its very posible.
About snipers... If you have a sniper friendly looking map like this one is suggested to be carefull considerations can be made to make sure it isnt that sniper friendly.
Done by an experienced mapper who can take the time to impliment some sniper handicaps so that snipers are used in the proper proportions would make this an excelent looking map.
Vertical gameplay: sucks
Reason: players dont look up or down. They said in portal how hard it was to get players to look up for spots to fling from... For this reason most players will probably get pissed off at how enemies above them or a long distance from the cliff on the ground are able to shoot them whilst they can't seem to see them.
Having said that, an esperienced mapper could use various techniques to minimise the frustration of having to go straight up.
The only effective sniper handicap for a map like that would be to put smiley face stickers over everyone's scope.

it would be easiest to disable snipers in the server
but that can be kinda of dumb sometimes
still it would look super sick as a map
What's a displacement?
Ignoring the thought of making it the main map, that would be badass for a skybox.

Lol, same thought popped into my mind when I looked at it. The resemblance is striking.
I have seen one map for TF2 that has a layout similar to this.
It was still in the alpha stage when I was playing it on apex's server.
There's a logo for mine-dog.net in it, I don't know who the actual mapper is.
shmitz - yep, it sure would. and thinking about lost coast.... It worked because most of the gameplay was on the cliff and at the top, if you could minimise the mount spent on the ground it would be a pretty nice map imo

I cant really see an open vertical map like that working in TF2.
make it a payload map youme!!
It could work with the map being in the facility on top, with the other areas being scenery. That way you get all of the prettiness without the gameplay issues.
