3D Studio Max

Hi,

I just got to thinking - is there a way you can import a 3D Studio max file into hammer (along with the textures) and then export it into a model?

When I was is school (2000) I made the European Union's Tiger Attack Helicopter - did a damn good job of it too - got an A+.

Well since then it's just been sitting around as a file doing nothing.

I was thinking about making this machine into a model so that people could use it.

Any ideas?

No, you cannot do anything of the sort.

You can almost do the opposite, you can turn hammer brushwork (no models I'm afraid) into a max file by using the export .dxf in hammer.

To get something from max into hammer you need to export it as a .smd (go google wunderboy's max smd thingy) then combine that with a .qc to compile a .mdl, then hammer will open that but I'm not sure what you're on about with hammer exporting a model.

Look it up on the VDC - http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SDK_Docs

Thanks YM.

I was thinking someone might want to use it in a map.

A realistic helicopter would be out of place in the cartoony world of TF2, but once you convert it into an .mdl you can use it in any map, in any Source based game.
