How to use damage filters on a TF2 map?

As far as I know, you can't target NPCs with filters. Mainly because a filter needs to be specified in the properties of the object recieving the damage and there's no way to specify that filter for players/bots.

    Alternative path for payload

No. Which makes things simpler (if and only if, the initial route does) as you can simply switch routes (no need for a "blank" third). I'll have to double check, but off-hand that still won't update the CP locations correctly. I remember having the issue, I don't remember what fixed it (I...

    Alternative path for payload

You can turn them off all you want. It doesn't really...do much. The problem is that you have to: 1) turn it off 2) switch the route to a piece of track with no roll zones 3) turn it on 4) turn it off 5) switch the route to the new route 6) turn it on Without 2-4, the HUD doesn't...

    Which gamemode?

Considering I've seen people do this: I think pointing him at TC is appropriate.

TF2Maps.net Mapping Contest #7: Payload (Dynamic element)

Alright. I've read that thread. Note that my water area is only tall enough to have the standard 2-dimensionality present in any typical route, bordered both top and bottom by solid walls. It's a small area in one portion of the map, also optional (if Red wants to use pyros, they use the...

    Alternative path for payload

Hehe. I use it when it feels appropriate. :) It's the best I could do. In theory I could make it update properly during setup, but it requires disabling and re-enabling several entities (I'd have to change the route from the current route, to the "blank" route, then change it again to the...

TF2Maps.net Mapping Contest #7: Payload (Dynamic element)

Just asking: What, exactly, is messed up about the HUD? I know that before setup ends it shows only the start and end, but that was the only way I could insure it wasn't completely FUBAR. Post-setup it should function perfectly. As for the water, I wanted to make my own water shader, so that...

    Alternative path for payload

All of this is bollocks. Go download this map and you'll see that it is entirely possible to make routes different lengths (that was a stated design goal of my entry: do you want long and hard to defend or short and easy to defend?). I don't even have the same number of roll zones in each...

    Alternative path for payload

Having actually fucked around with this... It is very much possible to use alternate routes. Here's the caveat: The HUD does not update properly after setup is complete. I'm failing to remember the exact conditions, but I believe the path would only properly update the HUD if the route...

TF2Maps.net Mapping Contest #7: Payload (Dynamic element)

Know what I just realized? (at 11:30 pm EDT). I didn't do that to my map. I feel like such an idiot. :P Cheated just a titch with mediafire. Had to push an old compile as PackBSP crapped out with being unable to run BZip, of all things. 9..9 Changes lost were fairly minor in the grand scheme...

CTF_Teufort- Reimagining the Game's Worst Map

There's one map (I'm forgetting it's name, where blue has a forward spawn above the center point (of 5) that some friends and I have managed to hold with only three engies by having sentry-jumped up onto the top of the building adjacent to this (locked) door. Oh, and not done it once or twice...

CTF_Teufort- Reimagining the Game's Worst Map

The proper use is during setup to get up onto a ledge where you can't be threatened, but still lay down suppressing fire. Not to mention, teleporters so that friendlies can get up.

CTF_Teufort- Reimagining the Game's Worst Map

Just FYI: The engineer can jump too. Often higher and farther than an over-healed demo can, and have more health left over to boot. (Build a level 3 sentry pointed at a dispenser. Stand on dispenser. Use the wrangler to fire rockets at yourself. Fly.)

    Any SteamPunk Maps out there?

I've played on that map. It's awful, flashy, annoying, and if you spectate the one camera, then get spawned in, your view will be titled in a sickening and disorienting manner until you die and spectate a camera that isn't all fucked up with yaw rotation. And it's still not Steampunk.

    Any SteamPunk Maps out there?

Cyberpunk is not Steampunk. :| Seriously. The former is about cybernetic implants and virtual reality and the nature of the soul, the latter is about brass, leather, and steam engines.

Color me interested. But no, I've not seen any SteamPunk maps before.

TF2Maps.net Mapping Contest #7: Upload Thread

I feel so...so...inadequate! Author: Draco18s Map Name: pl_mines Screenshot: Link Download: Link I went and fucked up getting that screenshot, encased the map in a skybox cube and removed the ceilings to get proper visibility...and forgot that Hammer saves the map when you compile and closed...

TF2Maps.net Mapping Contest #7: Payload (Dynamic element)

Ha! I haven't touched the map in, oh, two weeks now. :P Thinking about just vomiting it on the forums with not much more than a shrug. Might be a decent map, if a decent mapper got a hold of it. Sadly, that I am not.

TF2Maps.net Mapping Contest #7: Payload (Dynamic element)

It's ok, I'm forgetful and lazy too. :P I figured I'd at least get the texturing done and have half-assed prop placement by now. Maybe even a hint brush or two, just to say I tried to optimize. *Checks* ...still dev textures everywhere...barely any props (3D skybox? We use those now?)...and no...
