I had it but after rightclicking camera->3d textured shaded polygons it seemed to fix itself. Try that.

If you can see the brush you render the sides facing you. Ergo you do render them even if they are obscured by another brush.

When in the texture browser enter "tf" into the keywords box (without the quotes) and it will only show tf2 textures minus a couple of exceptions.
