    After you're done. Try loading a pointfile. If a red line shows up, you have a leak, explaining the long compile times.

    If that's not the problem, try loading the portalfile and using hint brushes around large clusters of vis leaves. Hint brushes can seriously reduced VVIS time if used correctly.

    Try using hint brushes on any triangular geometry to make a complete square brush.

    You should complete any angular or complex geometry using hint brushes, like so (http://i.imgur.com/SSmbCZk.png). However, if they are func_details, you have no need to complete the geometry, and can just surround the whole func_detail, like this. (http://i.imgur.com/BwpZ4yq.png). This last example isn't neccisary, but you might want to do it.

    That's your prob. HDDs are very slow and are only good for storage. Try to move it onto a SSD. Trust me, it will be WAY faster.
