  • Crash, do you want to collab for an MvM Map for the 72hr Winter Jam? I know you're an awesome mapper and I love making MvM Missions so I was thinking we could work together on this. Oh and BTW, I do know a little bit about mapping since I had a poke around in Hammer of the official MvM Maps and I know how the logic works but I'm still trying to get my head around Mannhattan. :3

    Hey sorry to interrupt but in koth_trainsawlaser how did you get the trains to spin, did you use momentary_rot_button, and if you did/didn't tell me how you set it up (just the parenting and everything) because honestly man, you look this stuff up and it only gives you the basics of them or its something different

    With parenting you would just give the rot_button a name then on the train set the parent to that name. Then when the rot_button spins the train will also spin - but make sure to have the train's origin be in line (vertically) with the rot_button. (and ofcourse make sure the train is a prop dynamic)

    Thx i remember i looked at that really late at night and was for some reason really confused
    I just wana make a sugestion. It woud be awesome to make a map with a machanic where you need to hold a control point for a while and the opposit team can still capture it. When the attacking team holds the point for 1 min the point is locket and the next point is unlocked. Just a sugjestion.
    Hello! I'm new to map making, by that I mean that I have not made a single map. However, I have great plans for the future of mapmaking, and possibly for Team Fortress. I specifically have one idea, but I'm not sure if it's even possible. It is a map that consists of multiple phases, each with their own diffrent game mode. Is there a way I can make this happen? And if so, how? I need all the help I can get! Thanks!

    The HUD has a difficult time with switching between gamemodes. Often it's not possible at all.

    My recommendation is scale back your ideas and start off smaller. Make a simple gamemode for your first few maps. Maybe start with koth. Learn to crawl before you try to sprint a marathon.
    Hey Crash I wanted to add skeletons in my map but they just stand there and don't attack me when they spawn any advice on the subject

    you have to generate a nav mesh so the bots know how to move on your map. You can do so by entering in 'sv_cheats 1' into the console followed by 'nav_generate'

    It'll do it's thing and then restart your map, and bots will now work. A .nav file will have been generated in the same folder as your map that will need to get packed along with it if you publish it.

    How to add water?
    Easy, create nodraw and add on top of it water texture (Better do it instead add water texture only). Later add on that water entity called evn_cubemap. Later add somewhere water_lod_control.
    i have a question i have watched all of your tutrioal videos but i really want to know about custom assiest my map is half way though and it is probley going to be seen in chapter 3 but am trying every thing to the my special feature could you tell me how???
