FREAKHEAD

Hey guys,

I am a mapper coming out of retirement. I mapped for years with HL, specifically for DoD. I was a part of a mapping group called Invasion Works. The only map I may be remembered for is dod_bridge 2 which was altered and released as an official map, dod_escape (for which I am not responsible). I also worked with Roleplay HL and had some screens of my maps in PC Gamer for the UK.

While with Invasion Works, we started our own standalone game called Greenlight: Airborne Operations 1939-1945. You can still see some media from that Here. I can't believe it is still there.

What happened? I started a family and my real life career took more and more of my time. Most of the people I worked with at Invasion Works went on to work for Valve or for other big companies like Ubisoft. I blinked and 4 years went by.

I say all of the above to give context. I worked really hard to get where I was and now, picking up source mapping for the first time is really humbling. I used to write tutorials and now I am struggling to remember simple things.

I really appreciate the community you guys are building here. I see a lot of really brilliant map designs, fantastic constructive feedback and I love that you offer a venue for people to play test the maps. I hope that you continue to foster that and let it grow.

TF2 has really kicked me back into mapping and I have been slowly working on my first map in about 4 1/2 years. Currently I am a systems support engineer and I have to travel a lot for work. I install database servers at colleges around U.S. and Canada. (I have to go to San Diego next week, oh damn!) My first map may take some time but I am looking forward to coming back into the game. I've scrapped several versions of my map but I am getting there finally. Thanks and I look forward to getting to know you all!
