I have tried!, Need Expertise! Paying $$$ to kind Mapper for My Concept.

This concept may be slightly unusual and in some ways could be potentially really easy for a mapper with great depth and understanding. I have very limited knowledge myself although triggers and things are not all that hard though now are they!...

I will be gifting a negotiated amount with the mapper after they can roughly estimate how long it would possibly take. I must let you know that this may take alot less time that you originally think, especially after conversation with me. But regardless of how quick it is I am willing to negotiate very friendly $$ for your time!

Please feel free to PM me for my steam name or if that is against the rules then just pm me to discuss it further! :)

Hope to Speak soon!

All the Best,
Richard

Goldrush_2009

Hello,

I don't know where this thread belong exactly or if it should be here as it is or will be a work in progress.

The concept or this work in progress is named:
pl_goldrush_2009

I am looking for assistance from a very kind mapper who can help me feed this through into the tf2maps mapping community. Ok...I guess the concept is not fully custom mapped from start to end and ok maybe it is not the "hard" and "proper" way...but please do not be blinded by this pre-conception.

I will be willing to gift payment to any map developer who can help me bring this concept forward to the community. Please can you send me a PM or respond to the thread and I will PM you :)

I Hope to hear from you guys!, i'm pretty excited!

All the Best,
Richard

to be honest I don't know where this belongs to be honest but I would appreciate help or guidance more so. in fact you jumped the gun and stopped me uploading my map screenshot and concepts.

more to the point: $10 a "re-vamped" standard map.

$10 - Goldrush_2009
$10 - Hoodoo_Final_2009
$15 x 2 - Professionals Service Charge
---------------------------------------------
$50

With future prospects.

Valve doesn't care about edits and fixes to their map. Hoodoo, however, is something you'd better talk to Youme about, Considering its his map and all.

I think you mean $25 for 1 EDITED map not a FULL REMAKE which would cost a heck of a lot more in my opinion...lol. But bearing in mind that I need 2 Payload maps that exist being stripped. maybe these wonderful developers you are talking about can message here.

But saying that hoodoo is a part of the valve distribution is it not? so shoot me for not understanding that this is some developer on here map...

guess i'll go elsewhere to get a friendly map dev on my case for this price.

Even if the map developer of Hoodoo wants to chime in message me here and I will talk with you properly instead of in front of this bunch unfortunately

All the Best,
Richard

this forum has been way out of order so far...wow...anything with more depth to responses? Oh and for the guys in green who "donate"....well Hoodoo VMF decompiled map source is available to me right here on TF2Maps.net

why do I even bother trying to credit people with money sometimes....when its deserved...thats the last I offer people on here money unless someone takes my offer up by the end of the week.

Well, you could start by telling people what kind of changes you want, and discuss them instead of just asking for someone to help, who has no idea what you actually want.

I've taken a look at goldrush, and the methodology of mapping is completely different to mine, with player clips all over the place one side a wood texture the other a player clip... i could barely look through it not to mention edit it properly.

Yeah. Nobody is going to accept your offer.

And if anyone does I'm going to kill him, and kill him, and kill him.

1. the vmf files hosted on here are for educational purposes. to look at them and study how something was made/created. if you want to download it, edit it, compile it and release it, do it at your own peril. everyone here will frown on it.

2. i dont seen anything out of order here. you're paying money for someone to edit someone elses map. you might get takers, you might not. wait a few hours/days.

3. just a warning to everyone that sees this. taking a paid for job on the internet can be risky. the site will not be responsible for any transactions gone wrong.

For one, I read through all of your posts, and I still have NO idea what you want anyone to do.

Why would I participate in something called pl_goldrush_2009 if I have no idea what is wanted in it? All we have is a name and a price, nothing more. It's like going to a resturaunt, asking for beef, and saying you'll pay $20 for the meal. There's no idea if you want a steak, a burger, or anything else!

Since nobody else has bother to explain...

Most of the people around here dislike the editing of official maps and deem them pointless and worthless.
Even more of the people around here positively hate third-party editing of non-official maps and deem them disrespectful and obnoxious.

Hoodoo, while it is now an official map distributed with the game, still is/was a community map made by Youme (a member of this site) and editing it would be quite frowned upon around here. But that's an understatement, I can confidently say any thread containing an edited copy of a map made by one of our members would erupt into such a flame war it would need to be deleted within the hour.

Beyond that, the idea of paying someone to make an edit actually just makes the whole thing worse. You aren't offering much, which makes it seem you don't want much done to the map, and that just makes it seem like you are lazy and can't be bothered to learn how to do it yourself.

But to reiterate, we really don't like map edits around here. We have higher standards of quality and respect around here than some other websites do, and these sort of things are below us.

Personally, I'd never perform a map edit for someone regardless of amount payment (well... maybe if they are offering several thousand, yeah right...), it's just not something I believe in doing.

Professional contract work starts at $75 dollars an hour - be it plumber, lawyer, studio tech, whatever. Mapping is no different, this is a highly specified toolset that takes a long time to learn.

Building a goldrush style map from scratch would take a minimum of about 100 hours in the SDK as well as a lot of planning, testing, debugging, and sleepless nights visualizing new tweaks. A visual overhaul may take a mapper 5 to 25 hours, depending on his/your standards.

If you are prepared to pay a professional wage I am quite certain many of the people here would jump all over your offer.

However, before working with anyone (plumber, lawyer, prostitute) it is important to know what the working conditions are and what is expected. So far in this thread you have proven yourself to be unable to communicate well, impatient, and quick to insult. Personally I wouldn't work with you.

(Edits lose thanks! For the record, ABS was all like "I like this!" before I corrected some spelling stuff. High five ABS)

The best part of this and his several engrish posts is that through it all no one has any clue what he wants, yet he's angry about that.

Thank you Mr Blue.

Ok for those who frown on official map editing I think you need to study the concept of basic payload gameplay forgetting the map. Regular Payload is irregularly and un-imaginative in comparison to the concepts of Control Point and Payload....

I think that everyone here as gone up their own armholes if im quite honest. Their mind are so single minded. Instead of talking to me properly and asking siple questions...

Instead I am alienated...

Ok?? you ask what is the concept....this has great potential...but let me guess Custom Mappers will disagree because of their mentality you tell me?....Ok Let me Explain thoroughly to hopefully explain why I am doing this or thinking this please....

I DO NOT WANT CREDIT OR REWARD FOR THE CONCEPT IN ANY WAY. I WANT TO TAKE VALVES CRAPPY PAYLOAD GAMEPLAY STRUCTURE AND ADVANCE IT INTO SOMETHING USEFUL, SIMPLIFY IT, MAKE IT LESS MESSY FOR ALL PLAYERS OF EVERY SKILL AND EXPERIENCE.[/B]

Payload 2009
Player Team Choices: Attacker or Defender
Total Map Stages: 1
Attacker Round Win: Last Checkpoint of Stage
Defender Round Win: Stopping Payload reaching last point.
Change Teams: No

So basically my proposal is to take the scattered payload structure simplify it and structure it alot better for measuring wins and rounds...The gameplay thus become alot more exciting and less anti climax, lets face in traditional payload if you are defending you are either wishing you were not...or if you manage to successfully the attacker reaching the last checkpoint in the last seconds its an anti climax because you are not rewarded as a defender...

I apologise for maybe not being as professional to begin with, but I am hoping that some well educated individuals here like me can team up and work something out here because my mind set is that I conjure these ideas and 95% of the time will make it happen...a couple of months of running a server and I am not into the realms of changing map logistics or at least trying...and yes I will learn how to start mapping if that is my only option but I am thinking that this is definitely something that tf2maps.net should be aware of and possibly try to understand. And at the same time, will not be hardly any work for someone with experience, so I gues yes I might be lazy in this instance? but this will be lazy work for someone with knowledge too so you know what I mean.

I Hope this Helps or Clearer,

All the Best,
Richard
