Hello all internet do-gooders!

Mapping is sure one time consuming task, but it sure is worth it!

Basically, even after Hoodoo, there wasn't a truly vertical that existed (as far as I know any way).
So what did I do? I made one! On the way I had to figure out a lot of stuff, mainly because this is my first map (NO don't close the window just yet!)

In short, its a payload map with a twist!
Get on the platform to go up. That simple!

Hope you all enjoy!

Wow, this concept looks interesting, and the map looks awesome. I would definatley check how the map plays out before moving further. A vertical payload may be difficult to reach once it rises to a certain point - The defending team could all camp at a certain point and prevent the attacking team from even getting near it.

It could definitely work though, give it a test!

No one has really made a map a like this before, so playtesting would be interesting.
Does anyone know how to get my map hosted to a server? Or do I just wait for someone to do so.

If the map is complete and it runs well (as in it's a WORKING map where you can push little cart to the end point and blu wins etc), you can submit for gameday and have our guys play the map (en masse) for a certain period (30 minutes for payload usually).

You can check out the Events forum here: [ame="http://forums.tf2maps.net/forumdisplay.php?f=35"]Events - TF2Maps.net Forums[/ame]

Played OK, but lots of bugs were mentioned in the test. I really enjoyed playing this map, although I found myself doing the same thign over and over. Spawn as solly, run to top, fire rockets down onto cp. It's a great defending point, but I did find myself being backstabs a couple of times up there too.

I didn't find much use in the top of the spiral staircase. The stairs themselves were excellent, but just one tiny room at the top with large health+ammo seems a bit pointless. Try and extend the room so it leads to the main battle area as well. I found it quite dark aroudn the staircase too.

Hmm, maybe I should add a new round....

And as for the stair case, I'll fix that up. For the time being ill block off the upstairs room, but it maybe reused in the future.

Thanks J4CK8

This was what people were talking about on game day. it affected Fire, Smoke, and Blood.

http://forums.tf2maps.net/picture.php?albumid=95&pictureid=705 Weird blocked fuzzy squares. Not that it had anything to do with you map. this pic comes from the map after yours. Weird no?

There were a lot of issues with lighting. Most of the place felt dark.

Hmm, that is weird. I've played the exact same version on a different server, no issues with particles there. So i doubt it is too do with my map.

Ok as for future fixes, people were simply getting lost. I'll block off some routes untill they are needed and add some other things into the mix too.

I liked this map. I loved the whole "we have to chase it up the spiral" idea of the payload, but the whole place was very confusing and there weren't enough signs, or when there were, they weren't helpful.
The lighting was very poorly done, but fortunately, it's fairly easy to fix the lightings (if you're willing to totally redo it)
I can't remember where I saw it but there was an excellent tutorial that explains how constant, linear and quadratic work with lights.
I normally have linear and constant set to 1, a 50% falloff of 200 and 0% falloff of 3000, and let Vis and Rad bouncing do the rest.

Well, I tried to make it seem dark and gloomy, because you are in a bunker.
But if you it brighter, well, LET THERE BE LIGHT!

There's deffinately a balance between moody lighting and too dark. Tf2 gameplay relies heavily on seeing team colors. Once you can't tell it becomes frustrating.

You can do alot to make it look dark by just having spotlights, that'll leave ceilings and tops of walls dark, but it'll light up play area good.

Looks cool and sounds intersting though.
