I'm trying an attempt at making a simple adaptive map that will change based on how teams and individual players play in game. Changes are made in a destructive manner rather than a constructive manner, which would have lead to a larger learning curve. Being destructive just cuts out the layout whereas building on to the layout in different ways would be daunting and hard to learn.

=ctf_stormy=

-1st capture

-lightning strikes losing teams fort, causes fire and lights to go out. Emergency lights come on

-hampers winning teams route to flag

-tornado brews in skybox

-2nd cap

-wind picks up, bridge begins to sway

-lightning strikes wickedly

-strike on water tower pours water on top level of winning teams fort destroying top level and killing everyone in it. Fires on that team are extinguished

-bridge weakens as it is crossed eventually breaking and killing anyone on it

-3rd cap

-begins sprinkling rain, stops

-tornado comes down on winning teams fort exposing the flag for easy capture

-heavy rain and fog

-4th cap

-rain dries up

Dark lighting hampers both teams, not just attackers. (and darkness generally has no place in TF2, players are supposed to be easily identifiable at all times)

Both the swaying bridge and the water will be very ugly without really complex custom models with animations.

There usually is no fourth cap :) max caps is a server setting.

its based on individual caps between both teams, so for a max cap of 3 there could be 5 total possibilities for caps before a team would win.

the darkness would last a second before the emergency lights came on, emergency lights will change the lighting, but not hinder it, and the level will still be well lit.

yea for all those extra effects i will need to brush up on my 3ds max skills and figure out why my animated models never work in game, they always end up not showing any mesh or textures.

sketching up a draft now.

I want the tornado when you've made it!
