So we're at dustbowl or steel, an interesting choice..

I still say 4 point non-linear push map like cp_desertfortress and cp_grinder. Nobody seems to pick up that unique mode and it has so much potential.

Everyone says this game mode will never work. It does work and i have scene it and had alot of fun on maps like these. It like gravel pit type maps with 2 points open at the same team except for both teams. The maps just have to be made right.

I would like you to try either a 4 point map or a quality 5cp linear map.

Why was CTF not there?

Anyway, I voted Territory Control.

Seeing that you built up quite a bit of hype in the comp crowd with Furnace, you could ride off of that and throwing out a 5cp map. That would get alot of attention and testing.

About singlestage A/D 4-CP's: RED never get time to get a defense up and will be steamrolled, if they DO get defense up it will be stalemate, so no.

I absolutely think you should make a good non-ripoff 5-CP map. Steel is interesting but you will have a hard time making it popular. If you don't do 5-CP, I'd say A/D multistage, and do something else than the chokepointy dustbowl style. I like the idea of a multistaged gravelpit.

You misunderstood, we were talking about 2 points open in middle and blu and red can both cap them, when one team caps both middle points their final point locks and the enemies unlocks.

But unless done very well with setup times in between or something a/d 4cp would definitely not work.

Yah the game type of steal is great expecially with the changing as points are capped.

We've had enough A/D maps. What we lack are good custom 5CP maps.

But if you make A/D why not make it a single stage? Like Badwater is to Goldrush.

hmmmmmmm?

The map you're talking about, Sausage, would be interesting but incredibly hard to balance. In a linear 5 cp you could work much more on each area.

EDIT: Why not [ame="http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=8429"]THIS[/ame] gamemode? :p

Current plan is steel-type map of this layout:
cp_iron2.jpg

Working title, rather cunningly: cp_iron :p

oh, the arrows with letters denote that path is only open once blue cap the points written next to it.

^Will you make multiple caps available at any time (more than 2, that is)? Because the biggest problem I've found with Steel is that there is a stalemate on one cap (especially A) while the midcap is impossible to cap unless you're a really skilled team of 3+ scouts.

Its not identical to steel's layout since more routes are open from the word go i believe as well as steel being quite lopsided.

I'm assuming also, no mid-round spawn room change for Red, right? That's a pretty significant difference right there

That's one of the biggest gripes I hear about Steel

I'd be careful with that layout. It seems like a simpler version of cp_steel. And since the complications in steel help it work better... you might just end up with a worse cp_steel. :(

Figure I might as well say this now rather than after the first alpha is out.
