But no one is really interested in support for L4D at this point, because everything everyone wanted is in L4D2. And minor patches isn't going to cut it for the legion of angry fanboys whining out there.

Yet another rant about L4D1 not getting free content and patches when Valve has repeatedly said they're continuing support for L4D1.

Actions speak louder then words and Valve has done jack-squat to back up their words.

I don't understand how anal people are acting over this. There was thousands of people/idiots who joined a damn internet boycott for Christ's sake. Left 4 Dead will be getting another update and that's all fair and well.

Yes Left 4 Dead 2 has many of the same gameplay applications as the original, but I do believe there are enough new editions to the game to warrant a sequel.

I myself have spent more than enough time in Left 4 Dead to warrant the $50 price tag, and I believe Left 4 Dead 2 will be of even more worth than that.

I won't waste my time being redundant when Nineaxis has said enough in the rationale of Valve's decisions regarding their games. And I do suppose their decisions are entirely logical.

I can understand why everyone gets very upset about L4D2, Really if you think about it the whole idea of making L4D2 just seems to have a lot of holes in . But with all the new weapons and features, the game is kinda forced to be a sequal. After all, it would be hard to edit all the maps and gameplay systems to allow the new infected to work in the game. And it would also be hard to stick all the new weapons and tweaks (like the AI director moving paths around) all inside an expansion or DLC.

well in fair time valve will focus on tf2 again, seems like the only classes left are the demo and solly, and I have feeling its going to be big updates, and yet more complaining, but you can't help that.

L4D is good to play just to shoot something, lol. It's good to get away from other games that I play like crysis or Tf2. Or Qauke Live

What are you talking about a few weeks ago they made a huge update with a new lobby browser that made it much better to play custom maps, if you are tired of the official play some customs or make your own. Their are some great ones.

And before that they released the vpk update. And even still after that they said they are not done with l4d and will continuing Releasing updates and supporting it after l4d2 is released.

Yeah, this is good stuff, but it's still not directly supporting the game. Rather, it's supporting the efforts of the players in supporting the game. I'm happy about it, but it still doesn't give me any faith that they'll ever add new content to L4D1 themselves.

True they might not add more maps, but they might do community releases or small gameplay changes like in tf2 or like they did in the beginning when they added smoker drag damage.

This wasn't an addition to the game. This was something that should have been there from the start, which is another bullet point for the argument that we beta tested L4D1 for six months.

Unless I am mistaken, most online games, expecially by VALVe, have a lobby browser at the launch of the game. The matchmaking system was all because of console owners. Now, I'm a console owner, but I would have much rather had a lobby browser from the start.

It's two chapters long and made for versus mode. They hope to fight the problem of ragequitting with a shorter campaign. Considering the number of different teammates I end up with just going through the first level of a normal versus games, I don't have high hopes

This is why i only play with friends or on cevo config servers, No problems. I make friends online and we get 8 together and all go random or pick 2 captains. Or get 4 and hope we get lucky and the other team is cool.

Well now that this DLC announcment has hit I can express nothing but the highest levels of schadenfreude for the impatient, self-important beings known as the L4D2 boycotters.

Yes I am calling the boycotters out on this because they have acted in ways which make me ashamed of being a gamer. The people who think they understand how game development works and that somehow they should get things for free if the development time is too fast or a sequel comes out in a timely manner. The people who think companies owe them something for no good reason other than "I bought your game", and think that things like having a working online component and a game that's mostly non-buggy isn't good enough.

Personally I was always going to get L4D2 regardless because

A) I trust Valve. Sure they challenged my "faith" so to speak when the random drops in TF2 started, but they actually fixed a majority of the problems with that within a week and I was pleased. And I didn't need to join a boycott group to get that result.

B) The boycott group was already lying when some of them said there was no dev kit still. Yes there was. It had been available to anybody for about a month before L4D2 was announced. Sure it was a beta, but it only took about a month and a half after that to be out of beta and "ready" as it were. So to say Valve wasn't delivering on promises was misleading from the get-go. And it's not like they suddenly started speaking the truth either (and no, their version of the truth doesn't count).

C) I've had enough fun with L4D1 to feel I got more than my $50 worth, and thus am perfectly willing to spend $50 on a sequel that expands on the ideas and makes them better.

EDIT:

I dunno I think this is actually a good idea since, although I've never ragequitted in versus, a versus match will still run very long just because of the nature of it, especially when a 4v4 gets going. So it makes sense even from a non-ragequit stance to have campaigns that are shorter to work in versus. Or even as a warmup for expert if some people aren't that used to that level of difficulty.
