Does TF2maps.net want their own 6v9 thing?

I run those 6 vs. 9 events over at the Steam Forums and I'm fairly impressed with them - I've been getting better and better competitive players, and the interest never seems to die down. It's been my goal to introduce players to the competitive scene, and so far it has been working excellently.

However, I've never really had any plans to keep this event exclusive to SPUF - actually, there is a fair amount of interest in it from the TF2 Mappers steam chatroom.

Basically, how it works is that I take 9 people (this time it'll be 9 mappers) and they form a highlander team (one of each class). Then, they face 6 other players who are from the competitive scene who are playing in the CEVO format (2 of each class max, and 1 max for demos/medics). No sandman, no crits, no damage spread, 3 maps, game on.

So, if there is any interest in me putting 9 mappers against 6 competitive players on 3 custom maps - one push CP, one PL/PLR/CTF, and one Gravelpit-style CP - just go ahead and post here. If I get enough interest I'll start talking with some really good pro players about lending me their time to play on the custom maps.

Things I already have:
1. A 16 slot server.
2. Competitive Players are easy for me to contact and get.
3. Source TV relays (3 of them, each with 250 slots).

Just post in this thread if you're interested in watching or playing. I'll probably keep it NA unless there is enough EU interest, where I'll have to contact Shintaz about it.

I would be interested, I can play medic, heavy, demo, engi, and spy well. So whatever from those we would need. :)

I'd love to watch. Will the events be recorded too?

Obviously, I've done that for every match thus far. It won't be any different with custom maps, which I'm considering making:

cp_yukon_final - pl_cashworks/pl_swiftwater/pl_halfacre - cp_glacier_rc/cp_furnace_rc

Alright, interest seems big enough - just make sure that the people who sign up have Ventrilo that works while they're ingame (for communication) and a microphone to talk. I'll talk to some comp players after tomorrows match.

Oh, right, mics.

I forgot those exist.

Un-count me in.

I'd love to play mapper demoman (although I play EU 6v6), but being European, I doubt I can make the time you'd suggest.

Do we have to use Ventrilo? Alltalk works just as well.

No, no it doesn't (because they could hear us, and in-game quality is bad)

How about adding a mapping twist, they can only play on official maps made by the mapping community (i.e. Fastlane for 5 CP, Hoodoo for PL, Junct... actually scrap that idea :))

But it would be nice to play, for instance, Yukon, Glacier and Furnace.

Can the 6v6 team beat the mappers, on their own maps!?

It'd also be nice to bear in mind that if it was done instead of say, a gameday, the 6s team could be EU, and both EUs and Americans would get to play.
