I think a good addition to this website would be a shoutbox. Over at TF2F, we constantly get mapping questions in our shoutbox, even though we are not a mapping-specific site. If we can't answer the questions, we usually send them your way...

The thing I've noticed is some people prefer instant gratification without the need of creating a new thread for a simple question. Also, a lot of people are unable to connect to Steam at all times (at work, on another computer, on a mobile) but may still have mapping questions.

Also, the benefits of a shoutbox extend beyond mapping questions--a great bit of community bonding would happen.

Just a suggestion.

We have the Steam Chat. That seems to be enough.

Not everyone can join the Steam chat when they have a specific question in mind.

Well shoutbox shouldn't be to hard to install, but that's not the issue.

If a shoutbox was to arise (which there really is no need) it would be more of a silly time waster for people who are at work and don't have steam installed, and it would also be the home of all the random shit that's usually on steam chat and steam chat would be host for the mapping stuff.

I do not think a shout box will come into play here, mostly yes because of the steam chat.

The big thing is for questions. If you are using hammer you will be on steam, if on steam you should be in steam chat.

Shoutbox uses a bit of server resources, not a lot but it all adds up.
