Ok, Once again the last gaming day suffered from a lack of preparation. We rushed to put it together, and in the end were left with only 4 maps to play. Despite this we were able to keep the server full for most of the day and I think most of us had pretty much fun.

The reason I put Feb. 23 as the date for the next event is two fold.
1. I am going to be out of town this weekend :p
2. Gives us time to ensure that we are prepared this time.

SO. Lets start this list again.

When:
- February 23, 2008 @ 1:00 PM PST, 4:00 PM EST, 9:00 PM GMT

Where:
- TF2Maps.net Official Server: 69.12.25.43:27015
-
Server Thread Here

What Maps:
  1. If you are submitting a map, please do one of the following:
    • Include a link to a publicly released version
    • If there is no publicly released version send either me or DrPepper a forum PM (or contact me on steam) containing a link to a version that we can post onto the server.
  2. *note* we will most likely NOT have a password on the server so any maps submitted can still be download by the general public and there is a chance they might like it enough to try and post it to the internet without first asking permission. Keep this in mind.
As last time, as ideas are tossed around I will be updating this post to reflect current map suggestions and general ideas about the event.

I'm all for such activities. However, if we're only doing this once every couple of weeks, and the server is dead inbetween, it seems like an awful waste of money on the part of drpepper. We've had a few offers recently of loans that we can use. Perhaps consider those for such events?

I agree with Immortal-D, but I will add that as long as Dr. Pepper keeps paying for it, rather than let it sit lets have as many events as possible.

For the next gaming night could I request adding:

cp studio rc4
http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/46179

cp_vertigo_beta3
http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/43280

and

ctf_freezers_v2
http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/40894

to the list :001_tt1:?

As for the server staying dead most of the time, map voting could help. Maybe Beetlesmod or some other admin plugin, I know someone was working on this, but I don't think they were able to finish setting it up. Also, maybe have a daily "upcoming" custom map hour set aside to maps people want playtested. And have the on-join screen point to a post here at TF2Maps.net (currently the server uses the default "Welcome to Valves playtest server"), with something like this to greet the people who join the server:

----------------

Welcom to the TF2Maps.Net Gaming Server

The best source for your TF2 mapping needs, serving the latest and greatest custom maps for TF2

Our current map rotation is:

ctf_badlands_classic_b3e
http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/44870

cp_castle3

http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/36321
http://www.ozfortress.com/maps/TF2/cp_castle3

Have a custom map you've been working on and like to get some playtesting on it? Post in our playtesting request thread or contact the admin (admin@email.com).

I would like to have as much maps from TF2mappers-members as possible.

Although I have to add that I have to skip this GN. I'm out with some old friends from the university, drinking some beers, playing pool, drinking some beers, trying to play pool, drinking... you get it :)

I started a server to help with developing my map and give a little back (and snipergen has donated webspace for bzip downloads as well! ) - if you guys want to use that, I would be prepared to share. :)

The server is "The Shadow Over Innsmouth".. I'm not certain of the ip just now, as I'm at work.. eek

Got a download link to zeppelin map?

I'm compiling this weekends test as we speak, and then after that it'll be on the server while I mill about making a checklist on what to do next.. (other than optimize and modelling/texturing some of the stuff, hopefully)

EDIT: The server ip is 69.12.92.149:27015 :)

I'll be there this time... although coming from the UK my ping might be a little big, so I might end up only being an engineer. We'll see.

Well the entire point (besides giving us an excuse to fill the server up) is for mappers to get feedback on not yet released maps, and allow us to play other custom maps that we think could be interesting.

Basically, if there is a map you want to play, suggest it, give us a link and we will see what we can do.

In other news. To keep this ball rolling for our coming saturday I am going to go through the currently submited list and try to find links to all that I can.

If you have submitted a map and it is not yet released, I want you to send me a PM with a link to where we can download it for this saturday. Several file hosting websites exist, maybe people in this thread could make some suggestions or you can ask in the chat room. ( steam://friends/joinchat/103582791429594873 )

Last playtest was a lot of fun, count me in for this one.

Because there are a lot of maps we'll be playing (13 last count), maybe we want to keep the overall amount of time per map to ~30 minutes. For an all day test, that will give us two full rotations. It should keep things exciting!

Too exciting for some; if you are nursing or pregnant, avoid prolonged exposure to TF2maps.net gaming night.

Hopefully DrPepper will have voting enabled so it shouldnt be such a huge deal. But I will aggree that we did play Science a lot last game day.

I worked very hard on clash! as for duel_street, that was just a quick side project i may or may not finish. I want to get some play time to see what people think. I need to have some suggestions from map makers not players.

Also another link to a download: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/46342
