"Cry more little baby" - The Heavy

http://hellforge.gameriot.com/blogs...ue-Original-Creator-of-L4D2-Charger-Speaks-Up

In case you don't know, in of all of the "new" and "creative" things Valve is going to bring us in L4D DLC 2, one of the most-talked features is the new Special Infected known as the Charger. Praised as a Valve creation, the Charger is actually from the mind of a Steam forum user by the name of ms255 in a thread he created back in December. Fast forward months later, videos and press come out and, lo and behold, here comes the Charger (a name the original creator even proposed) in L4D2. However, his reaction is not what you would expect from someone who had their idea put into a video game.

"As the creator of The Charger, and seeing it in L4D2 news... I'm pretty annoyed. What, they just suck up my idea for L4D and put it into another game? I never said "put this into the sequel"; it was a suggestion for a patch/DLC to L4D1.

Leaves me wondering what my rights to my idea really are." [LINK]
moral of the story is, dont post ideas on a public forum if you dont want them taken.

he tries to entertain the idea that his idea for "The Charger" was to be used for L4D1 in a free DLC pack, and Valve is now making money by using it in L4D2.

What he doesnt realize is that Valve using this in a DLC patch or in a sequel, it will net them money either way. Do some people think Valve releases updates for free? The cost to release a DLC is usually made up by the spike in game sales during the release of the pack/patch/DLC.

I would laugh so hard if he was right and he probably is not, so I am just going to keep laughing.

Way to research stud!

This is actually something that's pissed me off. He basically tooled the entire idea of the charge on the L4D forum months back. You can go view it! There is a complete lack of disparity between the charger ingame and what he layed out.

He doesn't deserve any money persay. But the team should have said "Hey man, that was a great idea, so we put it in the game"

Instead, the perception is "Valve made an awesome new SI that counters corner camping!"

So yeah, the guy has a right to call foul.

Super old news pepper you stupid noob

And he was barely bitching, there were other people complaining about it more than him

His problem was never that Valve used it, it's that they used it for L4D2. He wanted it as a patch or DLC for L4D

Learn some forum etiquette sir troll.
Now I had to edit this cause he ninja edited.

This topic amuses me slightly. I'll have to read over the linked topic before I can shoot off any comments about the subject; however, for the time being, if Valve hasn't already, they should at least give the guy some credit - or make a zombie in his likeness.

Heh, I'm in the boycotting group too... so I don't see the significance of it. To be honest though, I'm more of a number for that than anything else - when the game comes out, I'm just planning on waiting until they lower the price before buying it.

Give me a fucking break. A class like the charger is the most obvious way to stop the so-called shiva-stacking from the first game.

I even thought up the charger 6 months ago and told my brother (I called it a mini-tank). I bet hundreds of people thought up the same idea.

That kid's a douche.

edit: also, does anyone really think Valve employees look to their forums for inspiration? Really?
