So about 2 weeks ago TF2 started spazzing out. Random polygons stretching to infinity and beyond. Started off as just the odd polygon on the usual model, i figured it might have been a bad load for my regular server as it never happened in other servers. It was pretty odd, and annoying.
So i started playing in other servers and 2 days later it started happening on every server on everymap (rather than just 2fort on my regular server).
So something was up. I thought it might have just been my driver needed updating as this happened in the past (about 8 months ago) and updating my graphics driver fixed it. But updating my driver this time did nothing.
So then i thought it might have been my graphics card overheating, certainly google hits supported this theory. Downloaded Ntune to monitor my cards temperature; Seems to run at 57* running not a whole lot, and 71* running ES:Oblivion on full settings (dual gForce7900)). I can play Oblivion for 3 hours before i see funky polygons and even then it's just 1 stretching out of the terrain. After 4 hours i get a couple and it starts to effect the trees and obscures my view, then i figure i should probably get off, besides the fact that it becomes impossible to play.
So this sounds like over heating right? But 71* doesn't sound all that hot.. and most threads have suggested people running their cards at 90* without problems.
The trouble is it does this with TF2 instantly. I doubt my card suddenly jumps 14* and breaks from the loading screen to ingame.
Games this type of thing has reported to happen to have included HL2 and its mods, and Oblivion in particular also. Disconcerting as i'm not sure what this means.
I'm kinda stumped. I hope my cards not broken.
P.S.
Is there anyway to switch primary g-card to run a particular game off of. See if that helps. I'm pretty sure i stumbled across something like this whilst fussing over NAM trying to hardware accelerate, but it's retarded firewall buggers that up. Meh, different story with that one.
I was hoping to get atleast one more year out of these cards, updating them probably means updating my whole system as otherwise some particular piece of hardware will hold another back.
