It's better than css, but that's saying nothing considering what css is

I really hate waiting when you spawn. When you die most of the time i don't know where it comes from. And after you die you get to watch your teammates do the same, and when theres a few people left, they get to find eachother in a maze.

Speaking of mazes, most of the maps are mazes. except that one snow map.

Speaking of the maps, they are really nicely done. And the weapons, those are cool too.

But really it's one gamemode, but it actually comes with 2. Most games end up as a TDM

I downloaded it with intent to try, then I started following a thread a thread on another forum where the discussion and description has made me hesitate and I've yet to decide if it gets installed or deleted.

I installed yesterday to give it a spin, and ended up playing much longer than I had intended. There was a definite obstacle at first as I died repeatedly trying to get my bearings while learning the mechanics, but it proved really entertaining once I got a grip on what was going on.

I ended up on the same server as fox, and our teams had some pretty intense matches going. I'm not sure yet whether it's something I'd stick with, but I'd definitely recommend everyone to give it a try.

ya i think its worth a try. It definitely has a learning curve to it but once you understand the basics its loads of fun. The detail of the levels and all that are beautiful as well

I'm probably never gunna install it. It just looks like another one of those mods that's basically generic deathmatch with pretty graphics. When press releases for a mod turn into "we don't have anything of substance to show you... here's some weapon models!!!!!" I get suspicious.

I want to think, "but maybe this one's different," but that never got me anywhere in the past.

edit: and throwing a bunch of features in like thermal cam, cloaking, etc, does not exempt it from being generic deathmatch.

It looked interesting for a second, then the video got around to showing the player models... and that's when it went downhill for me. Why can't any mods have decent animation?

It's pretty fun. (Reconning around with the cloak on and unloading a clip into the enemy snipers never gets old. :D )

But, holy crap, some of you guys need to head over there and smack their mappers over the head until they fix some of the optimization on the maps.

Tarmac, in particular. As soon as you look in the direction of the building in the middle, my frame-rate crashes through the floor, and I have to walk around staring at the floor or side-stepping until I can get inside a building.

Played quite a bit last night, longer than I had anticipated

It's fun, but a little shallow atm

For anyone curious, there's only one gamemode: Capture the Ghost

Basically there is a busted up mannequin either team can capture. The person holding it has to throw away their primary weapon, but if they hold the Ghost in front of them, they get to see where the enemy players are (through walls and stuff)

So if you get the ghost, you have to call out locations, and your teammates can react

I like that part of it

Player movement is pretty slow, but I've heard there are servers with increased movement speeds

Isolation is a good map (that's the snow covered one). A lot of the others are overly complex imo

But it's a good time, and they plan to release more game modes in the future

Our webmaster was pretty excited and set up a server on our Dedi-box last night and got the whole community to try it out.

I will say: Difficulty = Learning Curve + 800.

But anyway, if you're interested, the IP is: 66.150.164.133:27015. Seattle based, probably one of the best connections available right now for such a new game.

I tried it out today with Radaka, and I've got to take back what I said. It's a pretty decent game. We did have a good group of people who communicated well, so that certainly helped. But I was surprised at how well the different classes worked, and that we could come up with different strategies to counter what the other team did. There was a level of depth there that I wasn't expected.

However, some of the levels are better than others. The small maps with simple layouts were fun, but we switched to this huge level on rooftops, and it sucked. Plus, all the levels were more confusing than they really should have been; even the ones with simple layouts. Probably a result of so much noise in the environments.
