What I said before seems harsh. However, alot of people fail to realize that this is more of a Camping trip than a payload.

I hope playtesting proves me wrong.

I hope so too man.

But again, chances are that it wont turn into a deathmatch. But if it does, I have quite a plan to do something about it.

And if all else fails, worst case scenario is to revert it to normal PLR. But still have the soul concept just for fancy visuals.

I'm still not sure why you thought it was good to build an entire detailed map around an unproven concept instead of doing a devtex test :/

srsly.

Logical Flaw: You're pushing a sea mine across land to a soul-eater.

What is the purpose of the sea mine, then? I had assumed that it would initially bomb a submarine or something. Now it just seems silly.

Dammit, I told everyone. I didn't make the sea mine for this. I made it for myself. But fearlezz came along and started pestering me for it, but didn't tell me WTF his map was. So now you have a cart that DOESN'T FIT AT ALL into a map that probably won't play well.

I kind of see the cart being something like a metal base, or whatever you call it. And like a Tiger head with an open mouth into which the souls fly in.

Oooh, I do like the tiger head idea. Like their some kind of artifacts the RED's and BLU's have excavated and are trying to exploit.

i like the seamine actually, lets say it´s a coastal village, there is some kind of haunting flying dutchman mystery in the air, so, sea, seamine, death.... kinda fit
buuut, just the seamine isnt enough, it would need something more mysterious at it´s side... hmmm, the artifact idea is nice
maybe something like a figurehead of a siren, you know, the singing ladies for Homer, who enchanted the sailor and steered them towards desaster

ooooh, and whenever a soul is collected you hear their shrill singing, which brings in more horror

Yea i like the seamine. It explodes, guys, its okay.

The bomb on the normal bomb cart had a tail that is used for if you drop it from above, yes you are pushing it on a cart. Seems to me like another salvage job, cause "hey, we need a big boom."

Also it looks cool.

Who said this ends with a boom? :O

Edit: also the seamine is no more. Nova wasnt supporting it anymore so a new cart is in the works by Rexy :)

Really what situation would be ideal for pushing a sea mine across land on a bumpy cart? The thing goes off by touch, it wouldn't make it 5 feet. I'm not sure it really "fits" anywhere if you really want to get technical about it. And you'd be thinking way too hard if you did. This map was as good a place as any. I don't see the "logic" behind requiring a nautical theme. I mean it's still a land cart, its on wheels. Much like the stock cart with the aerial bomb strapped to it (which for some reason isn't restricted to maps near airfields), this thing was obviously an IED. It's improvised and a just little bit silly in nature, which is as it should be for the world of TF2.

I just don't get the gripes over putting that cart in this map. People find weird things to latch onto, especially when it comes to each person's idea of what makes sense in a game that's so over the top anyway, you can really just about get away with anything. The cart could be a volatile drum of jenkem ignited with a bic lighter and an egg timer and I'd just grin and play.

I agree, kind of. I generally don't like that people keep trying to use different carts - it's a gimmick. It almost always comes off as cheap and unnecessary.

However, I think this map is an exception because the gameplay mechanic is so different. I think the sea mine makes the cart a little more sinister than the default, and the new model (should) help people recognize that the map is different from stock payload maps.

Even still, it would be nice for there to be a nod to the cart in the environment. I don't mean it has to be a nautical theme, or have you bombing a boat or something. But, you know, maybe behind the spawns is a river, and you can see that they dragged some sea mines onto shore. It's not obtrusive to the rest of the map, and it's not in your face, but it's a small detail people might notice over-time. It helps the cart feel less like a gimmick and more like it makes sense.
