Maintenance is almost done. The front page should be up, the forums should come back in a few hours once the dns propagates to the new ips.

Thank you.

I cringe every time this happens.

Takes forever for my computer to realize that the site is no longer under maintenance. Isn't there another way to do these updates without breaking this?

I'm curious about this as well. At least on my end, I was getting the "site is undergoing maintenance" message up until I went to bed last night at 10:30 pacific time, and that's front page or otherwise.

get better dns server. im not trolling, but this is a real answer.
try using servers 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2

These will resolve the site quickly in under an hour for ip changes. our last ips were blacklisted by some internet service providers, and this caused them to not deliver our emails such as registration confirmations, lost passwords, etc. we got new ones to avoid this n the future.

sorry for the inconvinience.

Ummm... I don't want to be out of line... but ping uses the same DNS resolution as everything else on a client system, ie, a web browser.

If only I understood what this actually meant.

It's ok now though, I can browse normally again. Last time took like a week.

This 'maintenance' seems to have broken more stuff then what it fixed.. And I dont even know what it fixed! What were you doing?

its been explained in the thread thats in the correct forum
ip changed + centos/cpanel update.

the ips we had were being blocked by some internet service providers and this caused our registration/email recover emails to not be delivered.

id rather have small issues like this than not update our software and have someone use a vulnerability and destroy the database or something.

Downtime sucks, i know it. Heck every time we mess with DNS it causes a problem for a bit but to what Pepper said.

It seems like most all the big sites of forums i visit have in the last 1-2months had a security problem.

It is all for the better, believe us!, however its so much better to have a little bit of a problem with downtime then send out a mass virus to all users and risk putting out key loggers or a database removal.
