I have played most custom maps and the vast majority are CTF or 5 CP point maps. Personally I think this mode is the most exciting, non-linear and versatile mode out there. The whole attack/defend a fort or item of value like a missile or submarine or whatever and then the teams switch roles I find most fun.

Mirror maps are dull and linear with predictable push retreat rhythms and ctf maps are mainly defensive. The A+B before C is unlocked is far more unpredictable and the whole map is centred around attack.

I think a few maps out there already could be switched to this and would be improved massively.

I'm working on a gravelpit style map named cp_underground_lair, but it's not going to be ready for a long time.

That looks like it has the makings of a great map.

Going though my maplist there are very few really good maps even based around the dustbowl style, which is attacking as well. Some of the nicest custom maps out there are extremely boring to play. I think convoy as a Dustbowl-esque attack/defend 3 cp point map would be great. On a mirror map you know exactly what the other side will do as it's the same thing you are going to do.

I have a map in planning.. should I finish Zeppelin before I expire of old age, that I plan to be gravel-pit style. :) Someday.

PS: Macnetron - that quote in your sig brings back some very happy memories of spending WAY too much time playing civilization
