Hey everyone!
Haven't been here for a while and the last time i browsed these forums i made some models if my memory doesn't fail me :D

Anyway, i have been pondering about an idea for a TF2 map (CP or PL).
What i want to do is to make a map that has yet to be made, i want to use a theme that have not been used and can allow me to make my own custom textures and models.

So far i was thinking about a map with ice and snow, however there is a good one named cp_Glacier by Acegikmo.

The only idea i have at the moment would be a Forest setting, however i can see some problems with it, also its not really a theme that is special to be honest.

What ideas do you have that might fit what i am looking for?

Thanks for your ideas :D

(it'd be lolable with low grav :p)

lol.

I started a thread quite awhile back about enviroments, added a bunch of pics and links and tried to encourage others to do the same so we could share ideas/bring new ideas to the table.
No responses that I recall.

EDIT--
Ah, looks like spike added a suggestion:

Gonna be hard to do anything completely unique. A space setting has been done but it's deffinately not overdone. Would be a good map to make to make a new object pack for. and still be able to use some standard resources at the same time.

A little outside the main TF2 style so whether or not people will like it...

A forest could be cool but you have to do it right. Trees inside gameplay area tend to be a bad idea. 1- you use alot so it can effect framerate, 2- the collision models (maybe solved with new trees), 3- too many trees to run around could be confusing and hectic.
Would be best to have stands of trees here and there. So you are playing in open areas and paths between trees.

Just listing some crazy ideas:

-Tree fort
-Casino
-Alice in Wonderland
-Underwater (think Bioshock or CP_Aqua)
-another planet (IE, furnace (youme's furnace that looks like mars), Zig i think it's called with all the crystals)
-DEATHSTAR!
-some city/planet in star wars
-Tristram remake (yes tristram from diablo)
-Cityscape from just about any final fantasy game
-Chuck norris' house (where med cabinets are every 3 feet so no one ever dies, cause chuck norris will never die)

That's just to name a few :D

Plenty of ideas :D
I forgot to mention another one i had, it would be a CP map playing out on a cargoship, like the one in CoD4 (Water Works).

How about something where the majority of the scenery is dynamic and hazardous? I'm thinking something like Tick Tock Clock from Super Mario 64 atm, but anything mechanical could do, I guess.

Dying to the environment more than to the enemy doesn't sound too fun to me.
That's one of the complaints I had about HL1... :D

I had an idea in my geography class a month or so ago for a map in a dock setting that had either it's final cp or center cp on a cargo ship. You could use the containers found in Granary's mid-cp ad make the ship by hand. Example Similarity?

that's basically describing my map i made a while ago, PL_Oversea, seen Here

it was a brief project, and still in alpha 1 stage. Only reason it's fully textured and propped was it was due for a school project and it had to be complete and playable. I never had time to implement a cargo ship, but that was my original concept was to have a cargo ship out in the water to blow up with a bomb dropped off the docks

graveyard (mausoleums, broken headstones, hills, maybe toss in some trees and a parking lot)

One of those highway exchange points where 2 or more highways, freeways, and/or interstates all converge and there are multiple on ramps and off ramps leading to and from them all.

With the 'forest' theme...
Hmm... Maybe, like... Ruins?
A little bit of the 'Lost Woods' mood lighting? (Lost Woods like from Zelda Ocarina of Time.)

Trees wouldn't have to be too hectic, but you could still get that 'mossy forest' effect.
I would definitely play that map.

The question is if the Lost Woods could fit TF2 Gameplay with "some" changes, the Theme certainly is cool.
