Well, it's a long time coming, but here is the latest version of my map Villa.

I've decided to try Sawmill's skybox and sun for this one, in the screenshots there is rain, but the particles clip into the buildings so I don't know if that can be kept or not.

Looks nice :)
about the rain, I beleieve you have to put each entinity 512 units away (not vertically) from any building because it falls straight through brushes.

Yeah, they were spaced 512 units apart, it's just so dense in the downtown area that I can't find a way to use them.

Unless every building has a leaky roof.

To be honest, I liked the sunny version better. It captured and brought across the feeling of an Italian village.
I don't know, looking at the screens gives me the impression that the Sawmill skybox doesn't fit to Villa. If you want a change, maybe try the one from Pipeline with the new, lit windows.

I was wondering if you were still working on this. Looks good.

I think the sky looks OK as far as overcast. I really wish we just had a stormy sky without the mountain. I didn't notice it in the pic but the flatness of the Villa and the mountain sticking up so far by itself my not match well. The mountain really makes you feel like you gotta be up high right under it.

The Villa seems like it would be more out in the open in a flat area.

I absolutely love maps like this :D

I agree with Phobos, I haven't seen the sunny version mind, but I think it would look better in a sunny weather condition..

Very nice map otherwise ;)

I like that cobblestone-or-what-have-you texture on the ground! That's not Sawmill's, is it?

Okay, I was just seeing if the rainy texture would go better.

Back to the cheerful sunny sky for the next version.

I like your new detailing, especially the building with the red stripes. Nice.

But there are two things bothering me in the second picture:

1. The blue van has a bugged model. It has a chromey reflection all over it. Maybe replace it with the yellow truck (you know, the one from the very last point of Gold Rush)

2. The nuclear waste barrels seem a bit much for the city setting. Normal barrels would be better, imho.

The nuke barrels were there from the first version of the map, they were meant to convey that BLU didn't care about the environment, but you're right, nuclear waste is a tad extreme.

As for the truck, I'll try the texture fix described elsewhere on the site. I'd really like to keep the blu trucks since I'm already using the yellow dump truck in so many other places in the map.

BTW: here's where the striped building comes from:
