Recent issues with lag

Okay I'm wondering if this is caused by the recent update, because ever since they released the new spy/sniper stuff, my games have been getting some horrendously bad lag. I was playing on a very low ping server and i was getting anywhere from 200-400 ping while others were getting 40 at the very most. It also takes a minute for my friends list and weapons loadout to become available.

Is anyone else experiencing this right now? And better yet, does anyone else have a solution?

Are you at a university, with the end of the year/quarter occurring soon?

If so, you may be experiencing something similar to what I am...The internet is running slower, perhaps due to increased load from finals or maybe the campus just stops caring about our internets...

If not, then I have no idea. I didn't notice any changes in ping or lag since the update. Haven't played in a week or so, though.

That's a good thought, but no, I don't live at a university. My computer IS however linked via router with another computer, but it still lags like crazy even when the other computer is off.

Any other takers?

If steam upates while you're ingame this will happen. Check your steam icon on the taskbar for "steam" text over the wratchet icon thing to see if it's actively updating. You'll just have to wait half hour or so to finish before getting back into an online game.

Otherwise it might be a background program or malicious software? Or just your ISP being gay.
