Im trying to make a perfect curve out of displacement for my map. Im trying to make a curve for the road, right now I made the curve with brushes func_detailed and the straight part out of displacements, but I want the road to have a curve made out of displacements instead of func_detail brushes. As you can see in the pic the displacement and the func_detail brushes dont match together.

You should just be able to do it via vertex editing, if you're getting misaligns like that you're making invalid brushes and need to be more careful of how you're moving vertexes.

ah ninja's but I seem to recall a tutorial on interlopers about roads and displacements.. I can't find it though.

I told you about the program Twister over at the Steam forums. It looks like it can make a MUCH NICER curve than that. In fact I think the one you showed looks better than the one posted above. err, maybe that screen was to show the twisted ramps, not the road curve... I haven't used either, but twister has a full tut on the site and I'm gonna try it tommorrow.

I'd like to point out some possible improvements on your road texture since your main question has already been answered anyway.

I'm sure you've seen Meet the Sniper? Watch it again. You can see how TF2 roads should be done in the first few seconds.

1. Make the middle lines thinner.
2. Blur the lines a little, they're too sharp. (I'm sure this isn't just the FoV on the video)
3. Add more wear and tear where the wheels of the camper vans move along the road.

You would have thought since that material has already been made we'd have access to it......

Doesn't mean they can't just make textures FOR the movie. I've yet to see that road texture in TF2 gameplay
