I'm in the process of building a TF2 map and I've ran into a snag.
I'm just not sure of the correct method to achieve the result I'm looking for.

The idea for this room is to have posts/beams on the outer walls that have glass between them to provide a glass wall and ceiling.

A few pictures of what I have:

The problem:

As you can see, the problem I'm having with this area is how to deal with the posts/beams on the two corners. What's the correct way to do this? I rotated the one post 45 degrees, but it's vertices do not want to align with the grid. Is there an easier way to accomplish this task? Or is there possibly another way of building the posts/beams in this room to conform to the angle of the wall?

Any ideas appreciated and welcome!

*Also posted on the Steam SDK forums, but I figured I'd get a better response here.*

SHIFT+V allows you to edit verticals. Put it back on the grid =)

Yeah I know I can edit the vertices, but I don't want to because the dimensions will be thrown off.

Drop your grid down one size using [ .

Then Shift+V it will stay the same/a llow the same dimensions/proportions.

I drop it all the way down and it's still not on the grid.

Can I not align a brush to a certain point?

i.e. the point that the arrow is pointing to in this picture:

Aye you need to edit the verticals *shift+V* AFTER your drop down the grid * [ *

So drop the grid and align to the new grid.

I see.

I just figured there was a more accurate way of accomplishing this. This way just seems very imprecise.

I actually went with a less taxing method of doing what I wanted, and I think it still looks pretty nice.

I don't know, I was just stating there should be an easier way to work with angles in Hammer.

Using vertex and making sure you STAY ON THE GRID you can make some really nice angles
*shameless ditched map plug for vertex angled dome*

The above picture angle will work but you will need to make sure its still on grid or else you will run into a TON of problems later =(

Any more help wanting please feel free to hop in chat or send me a PM
